Here's the logical extension of the "what to display in the main window" sub-thread:

Display nothing at all. Look at your scanner if you only want to know about the talkgroup you are hearing right now.

Hmm, then you don't need the computer or software at all. :)

"Casual monitoring" can usually be done with just a trunk tracking scanner. The only time I use software for "casual" listening is when I monitor a local LTR-MultiNet system. No scanner can track it. (Neither can UniTrunker - hint, hint.)

I hardly ever look at the scanner. I look at UniTrunker's window to see what I'm listening to.
I have separate Call Histories open for each of the high-priority stuff: Dispatch 1, 2, Heli, etc. Really like the Call History "per TGID" and "per unit" to see what they're up to. Of course, I have three monitors, so slathering the landscape with windows seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Mostly I would love to see the info from the Listening pane in the Receiver brought out somewhere nicer, or combined with the channel display (Priority and "tuned to THIS" indication, really).

For LTR systems, Do I put all the freq's in a bank and scan them? Or do I sit on one channel until I get all my info I need? I am new to using UniTrunker for LTR systems.

For LTR you need an inline receiver that decodes LTR. Program the system into the scanner with CC dump turned on. Decoding LTR from discriminator audio is not supported.

I am curious about confirming LCN locations that my Pro-106 is giving me. I think I either too many freq's or not enough and I want to double check everything.

I have a similar setup of keeping windows open for high priority TGIDs and RIDs. Unfortunately I don't have quite the same amount of screen real estate. This is actually why I would love to see the incorporation of a "Favorites" tab. The main Idea being that a user could switch to a tab that would allow them to quickly see a list of their "favorite" radios, if they were affiliated, and if so what TG they were currently affiliated to. Trunk88 has this feature (and is one of the major reasons for why I run both UT and T88 simultaneously.) Actually come to think of it, I believe TrunkMON takes the idea a step further and has a window/tab that shows/logs the activity of multiple TGIDs and RIDs. This would eliminate the need for having to open a bunch of windows each time UT is started and keep them in a persistent and organized state.

Of course, I have three monitors, so slathering the landscape with windows seems perfectly reasonable to me.

Seriously... Thats awesome! :D

I'd start with the home channels. You'll want to verify whether two known home channels belong to the same system or are separate. It's a correlation game. Having more than one radio can help.

Suppose 1 and 5 are home channels and group 1-100 is active on voice channel 3. The subaudible data announcing this call will be present on channels 1 and 3 - which you confirm with a second radio.

Now suppose group 5-100 is active on channel 3. The subaudible data announcing this call will be present on channels 3 and 5. Tune your radio to channel 3 - and hear nothing. That's a clue that home channels 1 and 5 belong to different systems.

There are a dozen or so similar tricks to map out an LTR system. Check out some of the LTR discussions in this forum.

I'm going to stick with ver 20. When it was released I got great improvement with weak signal which is most of all from where I live. I would get a 60 - 80 on a tower. Once I went to ver 21 it no longer will decode the signal due to it is weak.

I'll have that turned back on for release 22.

If you change the data folder, the program does not move log files over to the new folder. I suggest exit and restart the program. When a site window appears, verify logging was enabled on the site's Info tab. Click the folder icon to see what - if any - log files have been saved.

I have done that and it saves the xml file but only saves the .txt file some of time. I have logging checked under INFO along with autosave. I am missing something just not sure what, this program is great for nailing down systems.

Thanks
Mike

I am running it on OHIO MARCS 3600 P25 TYPE 11 Smartzone Omnilink and SWRCN P25 TYPE II Smartnet. I am getting .txt logs sometimes but other times no update. The .xml file is updating, do I need to recheck the log box every time I start running it.

GRE PSR600 in analyze mode.
XP sp3

Thanks
Mike

No, no need to recheck. Note that Auto save will periodically save the XML file. It does nothing for logs.

How are the .txt logs saved, I import those into spreadsheets. What is the .xml file for?
The logs record events in chronological order. Each time something happens (a call or affiliation for example) a line of text is appended to the end of the file.

The XML file is system data - sites, talkgroups, radios, and channels. It's like a database that is loaded each time the program starts. Any additions or changes are saved when the program exits.

Does this version support the Arduino bitstream. I looked at the setup and I don't see it listed. I have the Arduino attached to an old uniden scanner with a discriminator tap.

Question regarding UniTrunker's Parking and squelch..

The Trunk-only MaxTrac radios (PP 2Chan) will never unmute by CPU control, since I've taken away their PLL control and they never tun the CCh. So the Arduino will have to unmute on demand.

Is it a safe bet that any time UniTrunker sends a tune (QSH), the audio should unmute, and Parking should mute? If so, I'll just drive the RX Mute signal anytime we're parked and essentially leave it under UniTrunker control.

If I can avoid tying in the CSQ from the radio, that would be awesome. If the squelch tail is expected to be long before Park, then some combination of CSQ and Park will be needed.

(This was easier on Conventional programmed MaxTrac, because the RX Audio would unmute itself based on CSQ)
