Affiliation Logging

Is there a way to log affiliations in this version ??

A quirk i've noticed is that when the program is running it will only let you delete 1 channel. If you want to do a 2nd or 3 rd you have to re-start the program each time ??

Thanx for the program Rick !!!

Also... THE KNACK works very well for me !!! BRAVO !!

How are you doing this? Sorry, but I'll need the exact steps you follow - down to the keystroke.

To PeterGV and Jay;

I may have a fix for the ingress of erroneous channels. I'll send each of you an updated version. I'm anxious to hear if this works.

Awesome possum. You've got my email address, feel free to email it to me. Ahem, not trying tp ush my luck here, but... including the fix that apparently caused TGIDs to be added using the status bits found during affiliation (I my case, I'm seeing lots of TGID+0xB) would be most helpful as well.

That's odd ... but it should work. To delete an existing channel, I was expecting users to use [F]ind to find the channel - then delete it. I'll check this combination out.

Channel Delete

Rick

The reason I was doing it that weird way is that it will remove a channel from 1 site on a milti site system, not look through the whole channel list.

We're working on another beta release. I finally got around to adding fleet map support for Type I systems. It's basic stuff ... just fill out the fleetcode (Motorola only). For those using the RR DB download service - the fleetmap is grabbed for you. This newest release should appear in the next two weeks.

Rick,
Please forgive me if this has already been asked. Will Unitrunker ever have the ability to select an active conversation like Trunker does? One of my favorite things about Trunker is the ability to be listening or holding on an active group, then in the push of the up or down arrow be able to change to a completely different group.

From the main menu ... [F]ind ... use the up / down arrows to select an active call. Press F3 or F4 to hold onto that call. This will preempt whatever priority scan was already in play. Press F3 or F4 to fall out of hold mode. I hope this is reasonably close to what you're talking about.

Ok,
This seems to work, however the visual feedback isn't quite there from what I see. Maybe I'm missing it, but when I use the F3/F4 I don't see anywhere if I'm holding or scanning the active groups. I like the green bar that runs across the channels that you use to initially select the ad-hoc group you want to monitor. Would there be a way simular to Trunker to keep the group your listening too highlighted?

It's up in the air as to how this should be done. Perhaps the "Listen" sub-menu could display the current hold item. None of this (including the F3/F4 keys) is cast in stone. I'm open to suggestions.

The F3/F4 is fine. I know screen realestate can be hard to come by on an application like this. I'm not sure if hiding it in a sub menu would be the way to go though. Since it looks like the top of the screen is pretty full, what about if it was displayed one line above the command/response area?

After playing around for a while with Unitrunker tonight, I'm not sure if the holding is working correctly in combination with other options that are set. I have my Listen configuration set to Listen=Y, Thresh=51, Ign Thres=Y, Ign LO=Y, Ign Listen=Y, Mute=No.

It doesn't seem to want to hold on the group I have highlighted and have pressed F3 or F4 on... Do both F3 and F4 do the same thing?

My personal opinon is that I coudn't care less about using software like Unitrunker/Trunker to scan through my groups like a normal scanner. Since there are multiple agencies on the sytstems I monitor, I might have all of the PD talk groups set to a priority of 45, and all Fire groups set to 5. However at any point in time when I see something pop up on the screen that is of more interest, I want to be able to push the up or down arrow (or some like key) a couple of times and come to rest on the group I want to hold on. This is probably due to me using Trunker for so long (about 8+ years) that I've become spoiled. Also in Trunker when you push the up/downn arrow to change to another activie group, trunker starts you at the group that is currently being listend to and it only jumps to the next active frequency. I think now with Unitrunker, you have to go through each individual channel to get there, regardless of activity. Just noticed one other thing as far as the screen feedback goes... I like the little astric (*) that Trunker shows on the group that is being listened too.

I know that this program is still in Beta, and you have done an awsome job with all of the features you've added... I'm just throwing in my 2 cents on how [in my opinion] to give it a little boost.

F3 to hold onto the talkgroup (or target radio ID for an I-call). F4 to hold onto the source radio id (the person currently talking). Holding to an ID suspends the usual priority logic. If you hold on a priority 99 ID, a priority 1 ID will be ignored.

Thanks for the comments. I've got some work to do!

Just a minor problem while monitoring a local EDACS system with Unitrunker. The following talkgroup numbers keep showing up on "groups view" -- 16, 32, 48, 64 & 80. None of these are talkgroups on this system (I have used ETrunk for years and these groups have never been logged). I have deleted them a couple times but within a few minutes they show up in “groups view” again, even when there isn't any radio activity on the system.

The EDACS system is mostly analog with some Aegis digital.

Please try this ...

1. delete the unwanted talkgroups;
2. turn on logging (instructions below)
3. wait for unwanted groups to reappear.
4. turn off logging.
5. email log file (or post here)

Here are the steps to turn logging on or off:

a. From main menu ... select [O]ptions.
b. press TAB key until the "Logging is [OFF]" field is selected.
c. Press space-bar (or up/down arrows or the letter "O") to toggle this option ON.
d. Press TAB key twice (to navigate back up to the menu).
e. Select ave to complete.

As soon as you see the unwanted talkgroups return - repeat the above steps to turn logging OFF. These files can get huge so you'll definitely want to turn this off when done. The log file will be names something like "UniTrunker-20060730.LOG". It includes the year, month, and day as a part of the filename. If you leave it turned on for several days straight - it starts a new file each day.

This beats the heck out of trying to get a wave recording of the live signal. These are text files so they compress well with Gzip and WinZip.

Rick,

Would it be possible to add the AOR AR8600 MKIIB as a voice control radio? I'll really push my luck and ask if the IC-R2500 might at some point in the future make it as well.

Thanks very much.

You beat me to it. Figured it out last night. It's a five channel EDACS sysetm and every time the system checks a channel (about every five minutes) a "phantom" talk group shows up. Hence the five mystery talk groups!

Thanks,
DSW
