I bought an SDS100 from the classifieds and have been enjoying it immensely. Since I have a MAC, I've done a lot of manual programming of freqs and TGIDS, which is tedious but not bad considering Uniden made it pretty easy. However I've run across a few TGIDs that aren't listed on the Guilford P25 page and one of them is 245. It sounds like police, but I'm not sure which one. Anyone know?

Also TGID 2089 on Guilford? I'm guessing GSO police based on the number....but hard to tell.

For unknown talkgroups I usually recommend using Unitrunker to log radio id's and compare them to known talkgroups. But for a Mac user I'm not sure what to recommend. I think some people have made it work but I haven't tried it myself.

As far as programming your scanner though, you should be able to run Sentinel with Parallels on your Mac. This thread is older but if it was working then I imagine it will work now as Parallels has only gotten better. As for the copy of windows you will need to run it, I would suggest getting a cheap old copy of win7 as Microsoft still offers the free win10 upgrade for license activated copies of 7. Unitrunker may even run with Parallels as well.

How to install Uniden Sentinel on Mac.

And to answer your unidentified talkgroup question a bit better now that I am home from work I decided to fire up Unitrunker. To my surprise I'm actually close enough to pick up Guilford half decently so I'm going to let it run for a while and see if I can pin down those talkgroups for you.

Thanks for the info. I used to run parallels on my mac, but honestly i haven't done it for so long that I haven't even bothered with it. Also, programming it manually helps me understand a bit better what I'm doing, especially since I'm new to all of this. I've done a lot of that in the past few days, and I've learned a lot.

As far as the TGIDs, I appreciate you helping with the unknown ones. I've encountered other unknown TGIDs, but as long as they don't sound like something I want to listen to, I just avoid them. The ones I've provided above should be official le, fire, or ems.

Not to bombard anyone, but I've got another unknown TGID 245 in Guilford P25 that is clearly police and not GPD. Heard them mention having someone under arrest and wanting GPD to come pick that person up.

Maybe sheriff?

It might be Burlington PD. Nearby TG 241 is listed as BPD TAC Alarm.

Wow I'm not even paying attention. I listed 245 twice. Sorry about that.

Also you might be right NCFireman11. But I've been burned before trying to make those close associations.

So far on TG 245 I've logged several hits but it's only been between radio id's 45447 and 41380. 41380 only shows up on TG 245 on my logs but 41380 shows up as talking on TG 703 as well. TG 703 shows as Guilford Sheriffs Office Dispatch. All the other RID's right around 41380 also show a fair amount of traffic on TG 703. The other RID numbers adjacent to 45447 show up on TG 725 (identified 'detention'), TG 705 (identified Guilford SO 'Operations Command') and TG 727 (identified 'Detention Command' under High Point TGs). So I would say definitely law. I'll keep monitoring.

As for TG 2089, I've logged RIDs 43143, 41190, 43639, 41108. All of those RID's are only showing up on TG 2089 except for 41108. It also joined TG 261 and 2087. Both of those talkgroups are unidentifed as well in the database and I only got the 1 hit of activity on those talkgroups throughout the day from that one RID. The search continues.

Wow. That's great information. I might have to get parallels working on this thing after all.

With you're data, I'd say almost assuredly that 245 is Sheriff. When I heard it earlier, they were at the courthouse waiting for GPD to come take someone to jail they had in custody.

Also, 2083 is GPD Dispatch 4 in the database, so there's a good chance that 2089 and 2087 are GPD as well. But you know how that goes.

I've found a whole bevy of other TGIDs that are unknown on the Guilford p25. Some I've been able to pin down just from listening, like the trash pickup in GSO and NCA&T police. I can tell you that 579 and 835 are EMS.

Thanks for helping with this.

Yeah I would bet it's some sort of admin, detention, transport, or some seldom used event channel. Definitely law related though.

I would bet you're correct with 208/7/9. The majority of the units I see logging in or calling on that TG are law. Of all the talkgroups I've got hit on today with my fair reception, it appears that about 1/3 of them aren't in the database. However there's a ton of radios on that system and I don't know too many people hunting down that pothole patching talkgroups haha.

I'll keep on monitoring. I had a spare SDR and an empty spot on my multicoupler so I figured I would give it a go. It's been forever since I've used a Mac computer but I dug out an old iMac I had laying around. I'm curious to see which of these Windows radio programs will actually play well with Mac now.

The problem with Macs (which I love) is that they went completely 64-bit last year. So anything running that isn't 64-bit can't run. When I upgraded to Catalina, it broke a lot of my 32-bit programs. Which is why I haven't even tried doing anything with parallels or wine yet.

I heard 245 again this morning and once again it was someone at the courthouse waiting on GPD to take someone to jail. So it sounds like this is a sheriff courthouse tg.

Also, I used bootcamp last night and installed windows 10 on my mac. So I can at least use sentinel now.

Virtualbox works on mac for this, runs windows in a window.

I feel like I remember seeing something about running 32 bit programs on Catalina but I can't recall off the top of my head what it was. Glad you got sentinel working. That'll for sure save some time.

Courthouse would make sense. I'll be back at my computer that is doing the logging tomorrow evening. I'll see if anything new turned up.

I heard more on 2089 tonight. Definitely law enforcement. One of them referred to his patrol car and the streets were in greensboro. So pretty sure it's GPD. Not sure what all they use it for, but at least i know where to assign it.
