If you travel alot and you want a great antenna, the Austin Sprectre antenna is what I have found to be a great antenna, and one that will last. Its pricey but then again the 536, is a high dollar unit. Sort of like debating over piwer steering on a car. If you are scanning primarily 800 mhz systems, there are cheaper antennas that do as good. A regular ham dual band antenna works good for vhf and uhf and will pick up 800 pretty good though compared to a nornal 800 antenna, you will see some lower signals. Larsen makes a vhf/uhf/800 antenna that some have reported good comments about. All of these antennas are mno mounts so in addition to the antenna, you will need some sort of mounting hardware. Now at the low end, Spectrum Force makes a $19.95 antenna that come with coax, mag mount and an sma adapter so you cvan add a bnc to sna adapter. When I have traveled and flown, its small enough to pack, and it works pretty good.
