does anyone know if theres a web site where one can download the XP drivers for this cable? Ive seemed to have misplaced the disc that came with it

goto control panel/system /hardware & look.. after you hook it all up to scanner & load software.. it should show up in ther eif cable is good. but drivers from RS Website should work just fine. then change in software to what the com port that it shows in the hardware section

or try dl the file again, could be corrupted for whatever reason

Right Click My Computer, hit properties, Navigate to the Hardware tab, then hit Device Manager, then you will see a window come up, double click on Ports (COM and LPT). Look for USB-Serial Adapter in the list that appears below it and the COM number should be next to the name.

Under the device manager for that item you can change what comport it is under the advanced settings, as long you are not going to switch it to a comport number that is already used by something else.
