Last weekend everything connected perfectly. This weekend when I plug scanner into USB 3 port, it connects to PC and shows contents of the SD card. However, EZ Scan does not detect scanner. On somethings, if I hit try again three times it will download to SD card. Any suggestions.

Will any USB to Mini USB B-cable work?

Howdy,

I've experienced the same conditions you described with my WS1080.

It's picky about the connection. I have a long ~ 9' Cable Matters cable that I use to power it at my desk, and that cable usually won't allow data transfer from the software to the scanner. I have a higher quality shorter cable that works much better; however, even with that one, there are occasional copy errors.

Now I usually take out the card and use a card reader. It copies much, much quicker and with far less errors. Still, I occasionally get an error. It seems the software has some bugs in it. This is especially useful when transferring a large amount of recordings (time difference of a couple minutes instead of closer to an hour when using a cable).

One thing that might help is following the connection instructions on the sticky thread at the top of the "Whistler Scanner" forum list. http://forums.radioreference.com/whistler-scanners/317662-whistler-scanners-windows-10-a.html

Good luck!

I finally figured out the problem. For some reason it had to be plugged into the same USB socket on my PC. Don't know why, but I moved the cable to original plug from last weekend and bingo. I moved office around and thought I would plug it into the back to free up USB 3 on top of case. Working great now. Not sure why it is so finicky.
