And if that’s the case like it was for me before the sds came along I advise passing on the Whistler .
Based on the information in the OP's
previous query as to what scanner to consider, simulcast is not a factor in his home county, nor the ones adjacent to his. So, as simulcast is not currently in use, the TRX-1 should be a reasonable choice. As was noted in the other thread, if travel to or through areas with simulcast systems was being planned, then the TRX-1 would have problems. But in the home county, nothing of note to warn about,
Hi All
Been looking for my first scanner. I found a used TRX-1 that seller said is 8 months old. Seller has upgraded to a sds100 is the reason for selling. What questions should I ask the seller. How hard will it be to program for my area. I live in Ross county Ohio and seller is in Wisconsin. I can buy it for $325 Think that’s a fair price . Thanks for any and all input.
Take a look at this Wiki page to get started:
wiki.radioreference.com
The TRX-1 is an "Object Oriented Scanner". More on what that refers to can be found on the Wiki page below:

Be sure to explore the links found on that page. Whistler bought the patent rights for Object Oriented scanners after GRE ceased operations. So, even if the "Whistler" name is not in the page title, the information provided does apply to the TRX-1.
The only software configured to work for programming the TRX-1 is EZ-Scan, provided at no charge by Whistler. A link to download the software is under the Support tab on Wgistler's page.
