By Lionville Fire Company December 31, 2010 At 2319 hours, as everyone was getting ready to ring in 2011, Chester County 911 Communications alerted the volunteers from Stations 47 and 6 (West Whiteland), along with RIT 53 (Fame) to the 200 block of Biddle Drive, Box 47-02 in the Marchwood section of Uwchlan Township for a reported house on fire. Initial caller reported fire in the basement.

Deputy 47 (Deputy Chief Chapman) was first to arrive within minutes of dispatch to report fire showing from side A (front of the house). Chief 47 (Fire Chief Holmes) arrived and established "Biddle Drive Command" and requested the "Working Fire Dispatch" which brought additional EMS units to the scene from Station 87 (Uwchlan Ambulance). Engine 47-2 (Capt. Boyle) arrived behind the chief, established a water supply from the hydrant, and advanced an attack line throw the front door. Due to the unknown status of the occupants, Deputy 47 and Chief 6 (Fire Chief Shirk) teamed up with the engine crew. An aggressive search of the structure was initiated as the hoseline was met with heavy fire conditions found on the first and second floors. Tower 47 (FF S. Edwards) arrived behind Engine 47-2 and preformed basic truck company functions of placing ground ladders, horizontal ventilation, and vertical ventilation of opening up the roof. Engine 6-1 arrived and stretched an additional line to the second floor to assist with fire suppression. The primary search proved to be negative, and it was later determined that the residents were not at home at the time of the fire.

Due to the holiday weekend and light staffing additional crews were requested bringing Stations 5 (East Whiteland), 46 (Minquas), and 73 (Ludwigs Corner) to the scene. Crews operated for about 4 hours.

Engine 61-1 (Kimberton) stood by at Station 47 while units operated on the fire. Engine 61-1 handled one call for a Fire Alarm. A special thanks to the crew from Engine 61-1 for sticking around and helping to get our equipment back in-service after the fire.

Lionville responded with 15 volunteers.
