• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Scott,

I'm assuming you can't have a priority channel while in Group Scan? I tried a bunch of tweaks, but don't have the radio checking for priority during group scan. I thought the manual says you can set a priority channel during Group Scan, but I'm not sure I'm reading it right.

From what I've read, the radio will only scan 1 group of 32 channels under FM Scan or Scan.

Thanks,

I'm not sure you're supposed to address a question to a specific person in the forums, you can always PM me.
Anyway, I'm not going to be much help with the Group Scan because I don't use it and I have no experience with it. I have all the radios I program set up for two channel scan with one marked as priority. All the rest of the channels have to be selected manually. I do it that way because both channels that are in the scan have separate 2-tone alerts with one channel having two different 2-tone sets. If I had scan set up for many more channels, there is a greater chance the radios will miss enough of a tone to not alert. Granted it could happen with the set up I have, but the chances are much lower because both of the channels are page only - simulcast from a trunked system - and one of them also has CTCSS, so they really don't spend much time on any channel unless receiving tones.
You should probably address this to just the Vertex forum in general. I'm sure someone has the answer to your question, sorry that I don't.

After some searching through the CE-115 software I did come across a way to have a priority channel during group scan. Under scan settings, you must go all the way to the bottom of the list. You will find the group scan list. You can set the priority channel there.

My radio is now set just about where I want it to be.

Thanks to all...
