I just did a major revision of the RRDB listing for the Victor Central School District Cap+ system.

While I have listed all observed Talk Groups, the descriptions are generic since my reception is poor due to weak signal and co-channel interference at my locations. TGs 2-9 appear to be individual schools/administrative activity and TG 255 appears to be the District Transportation Department and bus activity.

It would be appreciated if someone in the area can monitor the system and submit better descriptions for each TG. Also need to confirm if the 151.835 bus use is deprecated.

Can confirm that buses are not on the Cap+ system, and are still simplex Analog; Bus to Bus and Base to Bus. 151.835 is still correct.

Thanks! That explains why there seems to be only a few units on TG 255.

It wouldn't surprise me if over the school break if they do put the busses on the digital system, these radio manufactures are pushing digital very hard. What I mean by that is, for radio replacements and fixing them they are discouraging analog only.

The schools have been on UHF for a few years so they don't seem to be in any hurry to change. They probably have budget issues with replacing all the bus radios. But, as you said, someday repair issues may motivate them to upgrade.

I hope somebody can hear the DMR system well enough to better define the TG use. My reception is weak and fading plus there are stronger co-channel users on both frequencies so I only get bits and pieces of conversations. TG 255 sounded like it might be the bus garage which is why I called it Transportation. I only observed 3 RIDs so it did not seem to be bus dispatch. The school TGs seemed to be general administration and maintenance. I did not observe any that appeared to be specific to security or the SRO.

I have tried using RTL-SDR dongle (yes a real one, not a knock off one), and I could never seem to get it to work right, I got it to work fine with sdr trunk, but I couldn't get other software's to work right like DSD+. I have an SDS100 scanner I could listen with the TGs that are listed. I agree, probably in no hurry and budget issues.

The system had been in the RRDB for a few years but the listing was incomplete and had some errors so it is questionable if a Sentinel download would have worked. So, I deleted it and stated from scratch from DSD+ observations. I put in all observed TGs with generic listings to facilitate being able to scan the system from a Sentinel download. If a user is not aware of the ID Search function, the Nothing to Scan warning is daunting when selecting the system to monitor if no TGs are listed.

So a fresh Sentinel download to a SDS100 should work now. The system coverage my be limited so you may need to be near Victor to hear it.

I am a little surprised Victor has not gone over to Mobiletech Communications with the NXDN, most other schools in the area have moved over to that system. Canandaigua is on Mobiletech Communications NXDN but they for some reason are not on the trunked system.

It looks like Victor was mainly interested in a system for the schools and not the buses. I think Canandaigua also just wanted a system for the schools and local coverage for the buses. They were apparently not interested in the VHF roaming coverage. Mobiletech UHF on-site school systems, while licensed for multi-channel trunked, often start out as single channel conventional NXDN for each school until the use grows to justify trunking.
