I dont know why you feel there is a need to talk about what's going on regarding the OPP CISO & Invest stuff 'captain' (do you have a name?)
Cops gave got to be on this board, I dont think they'd appreciate you mentioning this stuff.

If they wanted privacy the should go encrypted. Earlier today I over heard an OPP officer describing occupants of a certain building complex north of Toronto as a mixture of elderly and a bunch of a$$holes.
Knowing they can be monitored they should be a little smarter in what they say at times.
Sometimes they cause their own problems.

And if everyone mentioned what they heard on these secure talkgroups perhaps EVERYTHING will be encrypted.

What even begins to make you or anyone for that matter think these are secure talk groups? Digital doesn't = secure just requires a digital scanner to receive over the air. Also some are available to anyone on a computer from live audio feeds. I sure I'm not the only who has figured this out. This information available to anyone who wants to find it.
My point remains if they don't want the information public don't say it in the open.

The talkgroup he spoke off is normally a secure encrypted t/g.

My question to you: What makes you think it is ok for you or anyone on here to divulge what he/she heard on any talkgroup or frequency?

This forum is probably crawling with law enforcement types.
Mentioning what they say, especially on the special t/g's is dumb.

:mad:Maybe it's time for the administrator of the Forum to start exercising what is admissible to talk about on this forum, there are still people out there that don't understand that you are NOT to divulge what you hear on the scanner radios' to anyone else, why do people and administrator not enforce this be for something hits the fan, it's not rocket science.

The most likely outcome if this forum is monitored by police officials is if the officers that failed to follow proper radio procedures were identified, they would have some explaining to do.
EJB the fact it wasn't encrypted means that they were not worried about security when they have the option to go encrypted. As for my description of what was heard earlier today (I didn't mention TG or address of complex) but only was a true example of what some officers will say on the open air.
This was heard on a Live Audio download available to all who want to listen in. I'm sure the law enforcement community is aware these are available on the net. If they are not aware I'd be extremely amazed.
If anyone thinks any force will use the fact that it was mentioned on this forum that a escort detail went through or a officer described some people as a$$holes as a reason to go encrypted, than you have one active imagination. No way could they justify the major expenditure of funds for this reason. Will there be more forces going encrypted of course. But I'll bet they will not use this threads content or anything similar as a reason.

Rick: I had no problem with what you said with your experience listening to the OPP, this is about Muxlow identifying activity on particular talkgroups and putting it on a public forum. If you want to know why I spoke out here pm me.

I dont know any police officers, I dont know whether or not they are all that familiar with scanners but I do think that they do not want us to listen to what they have to say. Halton Region PS use their computers for most of their communications
Do not think for a second that there arent police officers on here keeping tabs on what we say here.
I have spoken to a few 'officials' in my 7 plus years here.

It is my belief that when any of the in the clear radio systems need upgrading the new systems will be unscannable and we will be left with the dreck that Nova1010 said.

I know many and like any other group some are quite knowledgable on the subject & other have no clue. Some forces will go to cell phones thinking their secure not realizing they are legal to scan in Canada. Most scanners here don't have these freq's on them because they are also sold in the US where it is illegal to scan cell phones(base spec's on the largest market). Scanners are available here to scan cell phones but they are a little harder to find so indirectly cell calls are somewhat a little more secure.
but I do think that they do not want us to listen to what they have to say.
This is true but it has a lot to to do with someone looking over your shoulder type of thing. They hate camcorders at a scene even more. Criminal use to avoid arrest plays a part also.
Do not think for a second that there arent police officers on here keeping tabs on what we say here.
Most have better things to do with their free time. I can't see any force paying an officer on duty to monitor this forum as they have far more important things to do. Most officers on here are here because they are into the hobby themselves.

Sadly in most cases this will be true, but this forum will not play a part in the decision. It will be because of criminals getting caught using scanners to avoid arrest, I don't want anyone watching over my shoulder syndrome, and main stream media outing the police mistakes to the general public.

Rick: The forums here allow us to agree and disagree. I still do not think it is right to broadcast anything that we hear on this forum for the most part. Occasionally the encrypted talkgroups are in the clear and they make for excellant listening. That said I would never mention this, in a public forum and I dont think Muxlow should have either, especially where they are and what they are saying.

I also do think that there are 'officials' on here who check out what we are saying and I would not want to have conversations about activity on the CISO or INVEST talkgroups on here.

...I don't think I really gave out any info at all.. They are driving a 300 and an SUV OH my. Going to Windsor.. so were alot few OPP and MTO cars, nothing big there.

And as for the cabinet meeting part. I herd alot of different things so was just wondering what was up with that. Small detail so didnt think it was anything big.. Just never herd or seen this TG in use in my area thats all.

So it seems its always an ENC tg, but for whatever reason today, was not for that part anyways. Was just 2 people blabbing about nothing important at all the whole time. Alot of funny stuff for the most part. Dont see anything wrong with what I said. Its just as if the snow plow guys were having a convo with each other about snow in one area and their patrol zones or something and people posting what they said

And if any law enforcement officers have a problem with what iv said, im sure they know where I live and if it bugs them that much, will come have a chit chat with me.
If that is SO. Then I welcome that chat

This website has grown in popularity by leaps and bounds because of the streaming scanner section here. If you don't think that law enforcement and radio administrators have noticed these forums as a result, you are fooling yourself. Some of the things that some of the characters here discuss absolutely have been noticed by people that matter. It is just one of an ever growing list of points being made when the Motorola salesman is giving his sales pitch.

FWIW, I don't think what Muxlow said in the original post was divulging much of anything, but the point is that people in high places are noticing.

ive been a scanner junkie for over 20 years, and i have have heard lots of things that the average person shouldnt hear.back then then when conventional analogue was king, you had access to almost anything including cellular.(my old radioshack pro2022 picked up phones with ease).but back then the hobby of scanning wasnt as popular as it is now.couple that with the internet and the new technology the new scanners are equipped with, this hobby has grown leaps and bounds.my opinion is that we should all use discretion.enjoy the hobby, but you dont have to release what you hear, even though it may not be of great importance.keep the posts here for scanning related info, not what you hear.

Then if NOBODY wants any info to be posted why do people on here post when the OPP are doing laser intercepts and blitz and such things like that. Or when some kind of thing goes down and people post about it. Why does nobody start a bug fuss over that?

Nobody should be able to post things about anything then. What 2 police services patched together said, what patrol zones mto units have, funny things a dispatcher has said. All that type of stuff shouldnt be posted then if everyone here is flipping out from me posting super basic info with no detail at all when others have posted much worse and nothing was said

Does that have a lot to do with VIP security and escorts?
