I have not heard any audio on the Virginia/Hibbing ARMER simulcast in several days.

My signal source is the Soudan ARMER site and I still have a good signal. Could there be a problem with the site? Have all the talk groups been encrypted?

Make sure you have all of the control channels programmed in your scanner for that site.

my county is on a 700 simulcast and reception comes and goes.
i have a uniden 325P2
away from the house is OK, at the house is horrible.
that is the problem with simulcast.
oh, and it shows 5 bars most of the time, it just can't do much with it.

You may want to turn ID Search On and see if you pick up any traffic. Its possible you may have inadvertently locked out/avoided something causing the issue.

If you get a signal indication, that means you are receiving sites ok, so that is a good sign and control channel programming is correct.

Simulcast distortion is a possibility. If there is a way to get the scanner close to a site and see if you get good audio, that would be diagnostic for simulcast distortion. (I know Minnesota is like Kentucky and doesn't have much of a sense of humor when it comes to scanners in vehicles.)

It is very unlikely that they would go encrypted "all of a sudden" for all users.

Im an expert on the ARMER system, i've programmed it into EVERY digital scanner currently on the market, if your not using an SDS model forget it, on the Iron Range you are WAAAAAAY to close to towers to rely on anything other then an SDS, if you want i'd even make you the file and email it to you, I learned the system thru Greg at Rogers 2 Way radio in Bemidji and now I program units constantly!

I don't see a Soudan site listed for St Louis County.

I've been using a GRE PSR-600 scanner in Duluth, MN to receive the ARMER system without any issues for several years. I can also receive WISCOM as well. I considered an SDS but decided the price was way to steep for something that would not allow me to receive anything more than I can currently receive with the PSR-600, but the SDS scanners do look cool.
