Exactly and you can have des on viper as well. They could have even used AES on viper if the features are not in the radio ADP/arc4 or des would have worked. Not surprised that a radio tech is so big though that’s happens a lot it is comical. It’s like slow down little buddy no one cares.
My friend side usually thell get granted radio from that county that is encrypted. Thell supply them multiple radios just case thee already got all channels and u can communicate on them instead have use keys so thell probly give or grand Wilson radios and surrending because if they have buy them inkoenare radios when we went p25 they were 800 or more and that's not with encryption. That's just for one radio so Wayne might supply us radio we have good communication with neighbors. And ems we do for mutal aid reason

Getting off for a minute here.

Rowan Co has the best 800 Mhz. trunking system in the state

Char/Meck (UASI) and Viper are tied for second in the state

Cary/Wake is in third.

These are the systems that I monitor daily

Also just curious if Franklin county is switching from there VHF Trunking System to Viper. There was talk at one time.

Columbus Co tried the NXDN UHF Trunking system and now I think they are on Viper.

Wayne County will eventually learn someday as well as the mountain counties that are using NXDN.

No rhyme or reason for Ems to be encrypted.

What are they trying to hide, unless they are doing stuff they shouldn't be talking about over the air waves.

I agree with law enforcement special ops being encrypted but everyday routine traffic and dispatch. PLEASE

I also agree with hospital encode patient reports be encrypted.

I also agree that Wayne Co should have went with Viper. Looked bad when the Wayne Community College shooting happened.

Photo showed a trooper holding two radios. One of Viper and the other on the Wayne Co system.

I thought the idea with the whole issue was interoperability so everybody could be on the same page.

Also sounds like time to clean house in the fire marshals office and get people with common sense.

Strange the Fire Marsal is over the radio system. Most small counties communications is with the sheriff department or a separate

communications division.

Wayne EMS hasn’t been giving any patient information over the radio for 2-4 years now. They only give the Address, Call Type, and ProQA Code over the radio. Nothing else because all EMS Trucks have CAD and can see all the notes.

But yeah it’s ridiculous, a lot of firefighters in the county aren’t that happy with the decision.

They do give some stuff over. Radio age and what nature of call like if accident not age why helped. Nothing like worth somebody can still. In Wilson we used cars for that the only radio traffic. That gives out that stuff is seems to hospital and that air room Vidal's and. Blood pressure what going on with patient that's why lot hospital toner is encrypted but I went to radiorefrence and didn't see EMS dispatch encrypted are u sure it's encrypted

It is very much encrypted, I have submitted for it to be changed on RR. I was listening on my G5 the day they switched over, everything was normal, then it went quiet. Looked on my SDRTrunk Call Injest and sure enough it was showing encrypted on all EMS Traffic

I wish we would have went with VIPER but the head people in charge at the time of the system being purchased/built were against it. Even though it would have benefitted us especially with mutual aid. All surrounding counties are on 7/800 P25, yet we are here with VHF. Which in turn cost us more money because we have to get Multi-Band or completely separate 7/800 Radios for the departments that mutual aid with other surrounding counties.
Yea exactly

That was the whole idea with the state building a state radio communications network that was for

INTEROPERABILITY

I guess time will tell if Wayne and these other counties will lean a lesson.

Now you have hurt my feelins'.
I mean nothing against Rowan Co (they have great techs there) but there seems to be a certain system in a certain BULL city/county that can rival any other system out there

Sorry Marshal

Like I said those are the systems I listen to and have no issues.

I know the Durham/Fayetteville is a good system. I was just posting the ones I listen too.

Question??

Is Durham planning on transitioning to Phase 2 like Viper is?

Like I said sorry to have hurt feelings

Just giving you a little grief brother. Durham has no plans to migrate to TDMA as 24 channels is more than enough for us for now and into the foreseeable future. :)

Wayne County has finally made the switch for all Law Enforcement to go with Single Key DES Encryption. Originally this was only for the Wayne County Sheriffs Office Dispatch and respective channels, but now this has expanded to all Law Enforcement in the county.

Affected Channels:
- Goldsboro Police Department
- Local Police Departments (Pikeville PD, Fremont PD, and Mt Olive PD)
- And all channels under those specific departments.

I have already submitted for changes to be made to the main RR page to reflect the new Encryption.
Just wanted to make a post on here just in case any of you are passing through or live within the county.
How hard is it to program to a SDS100 or do you know of a video on how to do it?
