Hello,I can't seem to get anything from wayne county, detroit police,ems-fire,wayne state.Have a sds200 programmed all control channels and alternits and nothing,range is set.and location.macomb county is fine.Thanks for any help or ideas

First location ? are within range of the Detroit Simulcast Tower .to pick up Detroit .
Check to ensure every service type listed in the "tag" field corresponding to each talkgroup of interest is turned on (Law Enforcement, Law Tac, Fire Dispatch, whatever else is applicable) Only program in & scan sites within range of your location

It would help to know where you are located and what kind of antenna you are using. If you are using the antenna supplied with the scanner and you are outside Detroit you can pretty much forget receiving the Detroit Simulcast.
In the "Edit Profile" section of Sentinel, make sure the "Monitor" is selected as "ON" for each favorites lists. I believe it is off by default so any new lists you have added may not be set to actually scan. Just a thought.

I do wonder his location or if he is using wrong Towers or out of range .but iam at 12 and Schoenherr and do real well with Detroit Simulcast .
Without more info we are all just guessing
You say Macomb County is fine.. Does this mean you are hearing Macomb but nothing from Detroit??

I am trying to receive Detroit police/Wayne County on a Home Patrol 1.
I know distance is a factor, I am about 52 Air miles away, on an outdoor discone antenna.
I have programmed all the frequencies and towers in and set the distance at 100 miles.
I see the signal strength meter showing full bars and jumping around as it scans, I an assuming this is the control channels but no activity.
Is there something else I can try, or am I just too far away?

Between me and the Detroit City Limit is about 2.5 miles and I can barely receive Detroit with an indoor antenna. I have read that the Detroit Simulcast site drops off pretty fast outside of the Detroit city limits. Flat Rock is probably useless since it is in the southern part of Wayne County and the furthest away from Sanilac County. I would also check if there are other sites you might be receiving on the same frequencies you have programmed, for example does Bad Axe, Sandusky or Caro happen to use some of the same frequencies as Wayne County or Detroit. Put your scanner into ID Search mode and see if there is any activity. If you are receiving sites other than Wayne County/Detroit you won't receive Wayne County or Detroit talk groups.

Good points, I will check. Not a big deal, but would be interesting to hear all the calls. We don't get many out here in the boonies.
I think you are getting too far with that setup. Not saying it's not possible to hear, but your results will greatly vary. You could try a yagi, but it's still a good distance for the Detroit system. For those distances, I have better luck with the Unication's.

Oh I am sure I am pressing the distance. I knew it was a stretch when I tried it.
I did manage one hit at almost midnight last night, but very garbled. I don't even think a yagi would help. Besides I don't want to climb my tower more than I have to.
