I am looking for a model that is specific, I want it to do only weather and alert with S.A..M.E. box scanner style so I can hook it up to the boat battery and bolt it down without buying a hole scanner. Any suggestions?

There are a few out there, but since the market is very small for a weather only mobile radio you won't like the prices. You'd probably spend less for a scanner that does SAME Weather, or one of the combo marine radios with weather radio. There's also using a standard home style one that you put into a water proof box, adding a water proof external speaker and a 12v to 9v (most likely, check with the radio for sure) power converter.

Here's one version of what you're specifically asking for Thunder Eagle, Inc. - Radio Wireless Alerting Systems

Yea, but I want to have something independent and just like a mobile radio. How can you monitor channel 16 and then at the same time have the unit in weather alert mode with the possibility of have channel 70 with an emergency.

Midland WX-100 and the new Midland WX-120. They will work fine in a marine appplication on a boat.

Yeah he could, but that's not going to let him hear the marine ch.16 or ch.70.

Quote from the OP. " I want it to do only weather and alert with S.A..M.E." Where does he say he wants to hear marine communications?

I do want to hear marine communications but I want to keep the marine radio separated as a marine while being able to hear channel 16 at the same time. and if something comes over channel 70 the radio can do it thing, and I can hear the weather. I can have an alert set on the weather radio and channel 16 /70 can be monitored at the same time.

If you purchase a marine radio with "Dual Watch" then you will have that feature! ;)

He said he wants to have something that is independent from the VHF Marine Radio for Channel 16 and 70. The Only way this is going to happen is if Masterkeymaster buys a Weather Alert monitor like a Mildland WR-100 or a Midland WR-120.or he could buy another VHF Marine Radio and use it just for weather.

True. In that case, two different radios would be a good thing. ;)
