December 14, 2010 Box 2113

At 04:20 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1, along with 2 Engines and the Tanker from Station 8 (Rising Sun, MD) and Tanker 5-13 (Robert Fulton Fire Company), was alerted for a House Fire on Pleasant Drive in West Nottingham Township.

Assistant 21 reported that the fire could be seen from a mile out. His report on arrival was a working fire on the Charlie/Delta corner of a doublewide with an addition, as Command was established.

Cecil Engine 813 was the first suppression piece to arrive, followed immediately by Engine 21-1. The crews pulled two attack lines, with Engine 1's crew making entry through the front door. Once inside, crews encountered heavy fire conditions to the rear of the dwelling with smoke throughout. The hose team made their way through the living room and into the kitchen where they found the bulk of the fire.

Engine 813's crew advanced the second line to the interior and began working towards the left-hand side of the living room and into a back bedroom. Engine 21-4's crew joined them inside, while Lieutenant 21 took the Operations role.

Ladder 21 and Engine 812 arrived and sent their crew members to the interior to pull ceilings and remove debris. There was heat and smoke damage throughout the house, so much of the insulation and other materials had to be removed.

Engine 21-2 hooked into Tanker 21 and prepared for water supply from the other Tankers on the scene.

The Chester County Fire Marshalls were called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire as crews continued to mop up hot spots.

After extended salvage and overhaul operations, the final 21 Units went available just after 8AM.
