I picked GRE, but I have Uniden, GRE, Radio Shack, Icom...if it does what I need it to do, it's good enough for me!

I have had at least 15 to 20 scanners since the 60s.My favorite is a Radio shack Pro-2036.As far as hand held I like my Radio Shack Pro-46.I`m lucky that my local Police and Fire has not went digital yet.
Scanners I have now.

Radio Shack Pro-2036 made by Uniden
Radio Shack Pro-46 made by Uniden all ways in my auto.
Radio Shack Pro-2039 made by GRE
Uniden BC72XLT witch is in my grandsons latemodel race car to hear the scorers.
Uniden BC60XLT
As far as the best ??

Some day when the digital scanners come down in price I`ll get a good base and hand held.

I have a GRE PSR-800, PSR 500,RADIO SHACK PRO-197,UNIDEN BCD396XT. I use the PSR-500 for my live audio feed. I use the PSR-800 whenever I leave the house or travel. I use the PRO-197 when I'm relaxing in the living room. I use the BCD396XT when I work outside (fits easily in my front shirt pocket that I can button up). My overall favorite is the PSR-800. I'm looking forward for the PSR-900 coming out later this year!

After selling a couple of scanners and buying a couple to replace those, my breakdown is now 2 from Grecom, 3 from Radio Shack (which are all Grecom clones LOL), and 1 from Uniden. While I like and use them all, I still reach for my BC346XT first.

Hey guys,

In my apartment here in NYC, I use the Uniden BC780XLT for analog non-trunked comms, which covers operations for all of the public service systems, and a Uniden BC396T for trunked services.

When I am out and about in the streets of NYC, I use an Icom IC-R6, because it is so small and uses only two AA batts. In addition, it has a great feature that enables the earphone wire to be used as an antenna, so that makes for very discreet listening, which means I don't want to attract any attention while listening on the subway. It's also great for monitoring Amtrak when I travel. When I travel I bring the 396T and the Icom.

I'm using a Radioshack Pro-164 and an old Pro-135 right now but want to venture out and check out other brands for my next purchase. I used to have several old Uniden units back in the 80's and loved them so I think I'm going to give them a try again starting with the BC15X setup in my truck.
