trimag mount vs trunk lip mount
Is it conceivable that a trimag-mount could work any where near as well as a trunk lip mount, using the same antenna (1/4 wave whip for 10M)? Would the higher elevation of the trimag-mount method on the roof of the car help it work better to the extent that it could be comparable with the trunk lid mount? I am only going to use it (and have the antenna installed) when I parked, so the issue of support with the trunk mount is not an issue. Or will an antenna with a direct ground connection always work better than a magmount even with a closely coupled ground. I have to ask a lot of questions because my budget won't permit me to experiment a lot. I want to make the best purchase I can on the first try if possible. I have already tried home brewing it without good results. At this point in time I am only looking at the trimsg-mount and the trunk lip mount in the comparison as the only two possible options. This is because per request of my spouse I am not going to drill any hole in the car.
