Because of a discussion with another short wave listener, I kinda asked myself the following. If I could blend the features of two of my favorite radios that I already owned, what features would the new radio have?
Here is what I would “assemble”. My “new” radio would have the preamps from the Icom IC-R75 along with it’s noise reduction. The twin PBT would also come from the R75. Twin VFO’s from the Kenwood R-5000 along with the clock and clock controls. Selectivity and RF ATT from the R-5000, but the tuning dial of the R75.
It would have the R75 display and numeric keypad, but I would add the 1 mHz up & down buttons from the R-5000 along with the mode keys. Would have the R-5000 notch filters, too. Finally, the R-5000 speaker in the R75 location.
Perfect!
