Well the news was given about a month ago that the city of Wheeling will be going to a digital system as soon as the rebanding issues are done in belmont county (across the river) just an FYI

The data base already says there is a TRS (Motorola) system in Wheeling and I think you see the post below that the St. of WV is going interoperabilty APCO/digital. I assume your close by in Ohio, so you probley have at least 3 big systems to monitor. Like Ohio,MARCS, WV. and PA. Your input on what happens around Wheeling should be of help in deciphering this new WV system. Thanks

wheeling newbie

hi, my name is larry and i live in wheeling.

i just got from my dad a RS pro-2052 that i am trying to figure out on my own...hence the trolling of these forums.

i am new to scanning. i am actually a CBer. you might have heard of tigertamer on ch 23 if you monitor the home channel.

i am trying to figure the best way to set up this rig to keep tabs on everything from steubenville to moundsville...especially those sneaky bastards in marshall county!

Dawson75, if you want to e-mail me, i can exchange landline numbers so we can start a gathering so-to-speak...!tigertamer1@msn.com...

my stepmother has a RS pro-2052 as well and she even put a few of the 800 mghz freqs on mine before my dad gave me his. she only knows what radio shack gave her and she only scans in conventional mode.

after a few minutes online i had a bunch of freqs that 'ol stepmom did not know of.

i am starting to understand, (at least i think so) that it is better to scan conventionally here than it is to trunk-track...mabey i am wrong...that is why i am at this site.

at least i am glad to find that there is someone around the neighborhood that knows what is going on.

anyways, about the digital upgrade for wheeling. i suppose that means spending some big bucks for a different radio...mabey i can trade my tweaked galaxy DX99v (11meter conversion)...for a digital scanner.

i suppose i got a pretty good deal for this 2052, it cost me nothing, and it will still be good for listening to benwood and the rest of that sneaky bastard county, so i will keep this radio. besides, the way poiticians drag feet and snivvel around here, it may just be a while before the 'metro' goes digital.

OK. so much for my long-winded soap opera.

please keep us abreast of the northern panhandle, thanks,

larry
