Off-topic, but I’ll take a Grand National over the Monte Carlo any day.

Back to scanning…
Grand National was way fast, but I've always preferred the SS bodysyle
I still kick myself in the ass for selling my white one with burgundy upholstery interior
I've always loved the silver ones with black striping. Black with gold striping and interior too. Rare combos

I wanted one for my first car in the mid-90s but ended up with a Cutlass. Still a fun car but wish I could have located an SS that wasn't rusted or beat to hell. Someday..

Wow !!! Nice !
But how does that compare from the boxes from the guy
Down Under ??!!?

Do you have a link? I'd be interested in seeing what you're referring to. Some people have incredible talent and I'm always interested in seeing if there is anything better.

Wonder if someone can make a scanner with a 3-D printer ?

I know some people have designed replacement parts, like the battery door clip on the SDS100, knobs and stuff, so I suppose a whole case is possible. It would be a rare need, but if someone damaged their case I suppose that would be a nice thing to have available.

I know one guy who made a couple of really cool cases (not scanner related) with his 3D printer and then did a laborious sanding and polishing routine on the parts. In the end they looked like they were made in a factory. So I'd say yes, at least a reproduction case is possible.

While I don't have a Uniden BCD436HP scanner, I came across a really cool stand for it that might interest some of you guys.
<< CLICK HERE >> for more details if you like the photos below. While is claims to be for the Chevy Bolt, it looks like it could be used in many different vehicles.

I'm curious how fast is 3D printing and is it costly?
You can get a printer for a couple hundred dollars to thousands. In this range a lot has to do with accuracy, time, and how much time you will be "fine tuning" things. The material doesn't cost much. Printing can take a couple hours to days depending on the printer and what you are printing.

(I don't have a printer but I did a lot of the research thinking when I was thinking about buying one.)

It's not the fastest to be sure, but the filament is fairly affordable. I purchased an assembled Prusa i3 MK3S+ (considered one of the best) because I didn't want to mess with the assembly or deal with any issues, so I was up and running 15 minutes out-of-the-box. If you want specific details, feel free to ask.

Our local library has 6 printers off in a side room! You reserve one for the time it SHOULD take to print, supply the materials and ur good! Friend of mine is there couple of times a month printing ham radio goodies!

Seems affordable. How durable are the parts? I bought a security camera mount from Ebay that was 3D printed and it felt very brittle. Are all the finished products feel that way or does it depend on the filament used?
