APX units work great on NAS but the trick is finding someone who can get it done safely. Have 2 and no issues in my travels. High dollar scanners but no rx troubles on open channels

If you are bound and bent on a commercial radio, look at the Harris XG series.

Second this. the XG-100P is EASY to program NAS on and you will have zero worries in the world (albeit you do it correctly). I wouldn't do it with my APX because I like it too much, and im not experienced with NAS on Mother M radios. RPM isnt so bad once you get the hang of it. Much easier than ASTRO25 IMO.

This is only a guess and I'm certainly no expert...

Kenwood NX-5400?
Absolutely NOT, NO Kenwood radio supports non-affiliate scanning for any type of trunked system, whether P25 or NXDN. Whether this is good or bad is in the eye of the beholder.

In my opinion Moto APX has the best audio (this is definitely subjective), but overall I prefer Harris XG for the reasons previously mentioned. I'm pretty sure Bendex King also supports NAS but I believe the scan list capacity is limited to around 16.

Aah, but the trick is finding someone that actually knows how to do this.
Isn't the programming software itself next to impossible to get? I wanted a copy for a 2500 series.
The Motorola to USB cables by FTDI are all over the place but....
Motorola and the Country radio guy I know said HECK NO to getting a copy of that proprietary software.
