The scanner seems to be working fine on both AC and DC. I can run it on alkaline batteries' no problem. I can't use rechargeables's because somehow I managed to fry and melt the yellow case that's just for rechargeable's. Those are rare and expensive. I did find the answer to my biggest question about physical configuration, so that's all good now. Just have to find someone to do a quick solder job on the jack. I'm saving my money for a new external antenna for it, then saving up for some VHF/UHF stuff. Maybe get one that will replace the scanner for local first responders and city operation unencrypted freqs.
