I'm sure others will tell you the same thing - there is a learning curve with these radios, but we have a few resources to help...starting with

You will also see links for our Trunking Basics article (links are always in blue). Down at the bottom are the links for the Easier to Read manual, along with user guides for ARC500 and Win500

Many are moving away from Win500 because the author has been MIA for months. ARC500 is what most recommend, and as mentioned we have a user guide for that software linked in the above article.

If you want things like logging and virtual control, get Pro. If you just want to program the scanner, get Basic. They both do an excellent job programming. Pro has all the bells and whistles.

"Regular" ARC500 (not Pro) has virtual control as well. Pro adds the logging plus recording and a couple other features.

But I also run ARC500 on Windows 10 with no problems.

Remember, Windows 10 came out in July 2015 ... almost 4 1/2 years ago, and Windows 7 is nearing end-of-support. While there ARE some legacy programs that won't run on 10, any mainstream software has been compatible with 10 for a long time. A lot of those legacy programs won't run on 7 either!
