WS1040: Whistler 1040 no sound

I have a Whistler 1040 scanner. I have programmed Local EMS, FIre, Police, etc. I can see that there is communication happening on sheriff as it stopping on channels but I can’t hear a thing. I am using the plug and not batteries. I tried turning off and unplugging. Didn’t help. Also no sound to squelch.

Sorry for the non-technical talk. Still new to these scanners.

Did you try to listen with an external ear piece or speaker? Try that and see what happens.

Is this scanner new to you or have you heard sound before from this scanner?

Thanks for those suggestions. I am not sure what was up the first evening. I unplugged and let it sit. Next day could hear. I think my issue is actually reception. I can hear some of the communications but not all.

I think my issue is actually reception.

If the issue is reception, chances are you will still hear white noise (A rushing sound) when you rotate the squelch to "Open", or you can check the Weather frequencies.
