I'm getting ready to program a couple radios with the hope of being able to monitor fire crews working wildfires in Michigan.

Other than individual county dispatch frequencies and local fire departments, are there any other frequencies that i should be monitoring? Any statewide VHF/UHF frequencies?

I apologize if this has been covered in a different thread somewhere.

In what area I see your in Detroit not many wild fires there.
The DNR Fire has talk groups on MPSCS and alot of Fire Departments are moving to MPSCS .For UHF or VHF you will need to be with in range of them .

I live in the Detroit area but am in Northern lower peninsula alot.

As far as geographic location goes, the areas I'm mainly interested in would be West Branch and north into the eastern U.P.

Thanks!

Down here in Southwest Michigan North Berrien Fire, Berrien Springs Fire, Buchanan Township Fire & Niles Township Fire all have had big grass/brush fires already. All had to have Mutual Aid from other departments to get the fires out! For some reason local new media isn't covering these fire and also there not putting out warnings about the danger, other years they have done both!. DNR was not involved in any of these fires because their closest fire units are station at the Allegan State Game Area.

There are no burn restrictions right now so you probably aren't going to have them putting out danger warnings if the FDs aren't asking them to...
