Windows 7 "GodMode"

This supposedly also works in Vista, but some with 64 bit Vista are reporting crashes. I have it working on 64 bit W7 and it works great.

Works in Vista 32-bit, but it will crash 64-bit Vista.

Just tried it on Vista 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit...both work without issue.

It is a control panel like folder that collects many (most, maybe all) OS settings into one list.
They are all available other places if you know where to look.

Just one of many "tools" developers use to make their jobs manageable.

"GodMode" is what people outside MS have named it. Who knows what they call it in-house.

You can name it IdiotMode if you like.

Had a co-worker ignore the Vista 64bit warning and try it...continuous crashing. He left the PC up, used another PC to access his via UNC path and delete the folder. His system was stable after that.

Or you can just skip the whole 'create a new folder' step and... Start->Run "Shell:::{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}"

...some of those GUIDs also work on XP/Vista.

Not a trick and not a secret, but do be careful if you are not comfortable nosing around and tweaking settings
