Fist for some people I am not talking about Internet Explorer...

 Why is it that Microsoft does not come out with a fix to stop Microsoft Windows Explorer from stop working, it seems I get that box pop up more often saying Windows Explorer has stopped working and then it has to restart, I see all these people with fixes for this on the INTERNET and none of them have worked. It amazes me that so many people are affected with this problem and Microsoft will not send a fix for it. I get all the updates from Microsoft for my Windows 7 x64 operating system and none deal with this problem . What are people to do.

Explorer problem

Can you explain more about the problem other than windows explorer shuts down?

Not very much more I can Say, if you do a search for this problem you will see the problem a lot of people are having with this, from time to time explorer will shut down when I try and do something like right click on something, open a program, check my mail, it's not consistent it just does it when ever it want's too, I see a lot of other people have this problem.
I have no virus problems and have done all my maintenance on my computer and from time to time this happens.

Yea, maybe one day I will find a fix for this, I really don't want to reinstall Windows this is a full days work to do this and I did this once before and after awhile the problem crops up again so I don't want to spend a day doing this, I will see if someone else has come by a fix for this.

There are a lot of people who have no problems with there computers, and there is no spyware or any virus on my computer as I have stated, I guarantee that. I use several programs to keep my computer clean

re-boot

Have you un-checked everything in there and re-booted?

No I was not sure I should do that, I don't know if it will re-boot ok, I am in the process of deleting all old program I do not need or use any more, I wish Windows could check all processes that are starting so it could do a check and see if there is a problem.

It will restart fine and won't hurt anything. I just tried it on my Win 7-64 PC and all it does it prevents software from loading with the startup - there are no essential files for the OS to run in there.
Once you've done that, see if the problem continues. If not, then try re-checking the boxes for the software you WANT to run at startup.

Thanks for the help I just deleted several programs off my harddrive so I will see if this fixed the problem, also will run complete checks with AD-AWARE, Microsoft security essentials, and superantispyware for any bad things, after that If I have the problem still I will try unchecking all the files and try that. thanks again for your help.

Steve,

FWIW - I used to use Ad Aware as well. I switched to CC Cleaner (free) because it does the same plus it will give you control (and more info) regarding your startup items as well as registry fixes and drive wiping.

Good luck,
Mike

You might want to try malwarebytes too, Even though some cleaners said your system is clean i sometimes dont believe them and always try something else. Kinda like getting a second opinion from another Doc. Have you tried running your pc in safe mode with networking and does it happen then?.

More and likely it could be something in the startup like what was metioned earlier.

Toolbars can cause Explorer to hang... turn them off for awhile and see if it helps. Also... maybe try running Explorer without add-ons. It can usually be found under the systems tools menu.

Well, "saint" I operate my computers with absolutly no patch crap once so ever and never get an Explorer error.

There must be something running on you system malicious or otherwise that is interferring with the explorer componet.

Why is it that Microsoft does not come out with a fix to stop Microsoft Windows Explorer from stop working,

When it comes right down to it, windows explorer is just another app. Granted it is the app we use most often (desktop, folders, taskbar, etc.) but it is just an app.

If any app keeps crashing, and the app is well know (like explorer) you might have a corrupted copy of the app (or some malware is beating it up). Either way, as others say, scan with something good and re-install if you don't find anything.

There's always SP1, which should include an update for explorer (hoping, for your sake).
