The big Fireworks downtown tonight , in the old days I used to hear so much on all bands
much quieter now , so far the most interesting activity I have heard is the chat between banner towers
on 122.750 , even the marine band isn't as active as it was in previous years (some of that has even gone encrypted) Still marine , Det PD , ambulance ,& maybe even frs/gmrs might offer something tonight...

I didn't hear too much either, like you said the only real active freq was the banner planes, heard a few of CG traffic stuff, but not alot.

Sounded like they were taking pictures of a Med helo going past Henry Ford Hospital near Downtown Detroit. MED 2 was one of them, but never did get an ID, on the second helo. They landed at Detroit City @ 06:30pm.
MED 2 might be a new Med chopper for the area, because I've only heard MED 1 flying around here.

I don't hear the U of M choppers that much anymore either.
As soon as I posted this I heard on Willow Run twr,
N431UM UofM Med helo.
125.275 YIP twr, heading back to Ann Arbor, 01:45am.
130.600 Med flight.

I'm not working right now so I spend a lot of time monitoring. If I would spend as much time looking for a job as I do scanning. I would've been working months ago. ;~)
It also helps that I use 7 scanners to listen to Milair, & 1 for VHF Air. I've been doing this since the mid to late eighties. I also listen to Trains, Ships, & some Police during the slow times from aircraft listening.

Think everone would like to organize their freqs better. I know I would like to get my freqs better organized.

A couple other freqs for U of M Med helo.
151.565 PL 123.0 U of M Survival Flight. Flight Comm. This freq comes in pretty loud for me in my area.
155.160 PL 162.2 U of M Med helo paging (02-08).

One thing I have wondered about,...since our pd went enc some time ago ,...Im sure im overlooking something obvious , but how is it someone submits all the tgid info for the enc talkgroups? they are encrypted how would you know what talkgroup is what?
either a tech that works on the system or someone using hacked radio?

Some software will show the talkgroup ID and also if it is encrypted. I am assuming thats how. I have noticed also some police Comms are coming more in the clear. Talkgroup 23, i have heard dispatch and as well units.Yesterday during the garage collapse, that talkgroup was quite active.

Spent most of the day watching the boat races from Belle Isle on Saturday. Will be out there again today by the pier west of the beach. Sitting in the shade of some trees.

Excellent work as always nodak1crdet3,...I was able to see some of the F-18 from my place out by the airport , pretty far away but I could see it ,I also forgot my 396 has a racing search range , I may try it t to day
& see what I get prob wont be much as Id imagine its pretty low power & range
