Can you add those to the wiki of you don’t mind
I will work on this tomorrow. I need to pull 500 plus lines of data, sort out what is useful, and put in CSV file format and attach to this thread. Between my posting this reply, if anyone sees a problem with this, please chime in. I am only looking at doing this at this time for the FCSO, not sanitation, parks and rec, etc. Other public safety departments (police, fire, EMS) have not yet been switched over to the P25 system.

It appears my 2 HP-1's are Phase 1 only, so the update reminded me of time to update. I also have a bc536 HP and it is a Phase 2 scanner yet after the update to data base, it does not stop on any of the channels except detention and it is to weak to understand. I have read as much "do this, do that" as I could find but have no luck, is it possible I do not have system at Phase 2, should it find it automatically, is there some secret setting, is the data base correct or is there an error. Last question, one can not alter or add to database or can they, as I have found no such info on the web either. The sentinel software for this scanner is completely different than that of my HP-1, of course I had to find that out last year after first buying a bc536 HP. If you don't know, you have to learn/find. thanks if helpful

Not following what you mean by HP-1s. In answer to your question. W-S/FC switch to P25 is partial. That said the Radio Reference dBase is not 100%. You will have to add as things are discovered and not yet on the list. You do have ability to alter/update the dBase local to your computer Yes…. Not on the website.

I have a few versions of Uniden, Whistler and Grecom if I can help ya. RR@trogdon<dot>org is my email if you want to write direct.

Hope this helps.

Uniden pulls an update from the Radioreference database once a week, so just be aware that it may take a few days for database updates to be downloadable to your scanner. You can always make a favorites list and program new TGs in yourself. As btrogdon pointed out, most traffic is still on the Type II system. Only FCSO and certain public works agencies have switched to the new system. As agencies get moved over to the new system, I try to get a database submission in with the new TGs as soon as I can, but it usually takes a few days or weeks for them to get added.

Also keep in mind that any scanners that are not an SDS100 or SDS200 (or a Unication pager) are not designed for P25 simulcast systems (which the new WS/FC system is), so, depending on your location, your BCD536HP may have issues receiving the new system properly.

Not following what you mean by HP-1s.
Uniden HomePatrol-1 scanner.

Well ....bad news for my wallet, but like with all upgrades, I will sell the older 2 and re-coup some of the cost. I have been a scanner nut since 16, now in my sixties I must go with the flow.... ouch .... Thanks for the replies

Seeing some key-ups by 57xxxx RIDs this morning. Since WS/FC uses VIPER-style RIDs for public safety agencies, these are likely Davidson County radios issued for interoperability purposes or for medics that often transport to Forsyth County hospitals.

I am seeing some 169xxx RIDs showing up this morning. These should be Stokes County radios based on the VIPER RID numbering system that WS/FC is utilizing. Also, I have been able to identify some additional talkgroups on the system, and those have been added to the DB.

Ordered a SDS 200, it arrived, with sub cpu error, no audio on active channels, never acknowledged USB cord when plugged in, so I sent it back (Amazon refurbished) tried to save money, but that failed, ordered from Uniden $750, should arrive Thursday. I'll cut a few others loose to attempt to recoup some of the cost to update.

Kernersville Medical Center has started answering EMS-to-hospital calls on the P25 system as of yesterday. Their RID is in the 207xxxx block which matches the medical/hospitals RID block on VIPER. To summarize, here are the RID blocks that have been seen on the new system thus far (note that the Forsyth County blocks seem to be further subdivided by agency):
  • 1xxxx - Services/Public Works
  • 67xxxx/68xxxx - Forsyth County Public Safety
  • 57xxxx - Davidson County
  • 59xxxx - Davie County
  • 81xxxx - Guilford County
  • 169xxxx - Stokes County
  • 207xxxx - Medical/Hospitals

TG 1200 is now active with Fire Dispatch traffic, However, some traffic does not appear to be natively occurring on the system, but rather being patched in from the old system or perhaps even 154.025. It looks like this is the new Alarm talkgroup.

TG 1202 is also starting to come alive and is EMS dispatch (E1). This TG does not appear to be patched and radios are native to the new system.

Radio checks for EMS units on the new system are occurring on TG 1204 which is MED COM 2. Radio checks for WSFD units are occuring on TG 1205 TAC A-4, and radio checks for FCFD units are on TG 1215. Other TGs are active with similar radio checks. I will investigate further as time allows today.

Here is the information I just submitted to the DB. Initial fire dispatch is on Alarm (TG 1200). If a call involves multiple units, they will be assigned to MED COM or a TAC channel as appropriate. At the moment, TAC channels appear to be assigned in increasing order with even channel numbers (i.e. TAC A-4, TAC A-6, ... TAC C-12). Otherwise, units operate of FCF COMM (TG 1201).

Forsyth County EMS:

TG 1202 T Dispatch (E1) EMS Dispatch
TG 1203 T MED COM 1 Multi Tac (used by both Fire and EMS units when responding to a medical call)
TG 1204 T MED COM 2 Multi Tac

Forsyth County Fire Division:

TG 1200 T Fire Alarm Fire Dispatch
TG 1201 T Fire Communications Fire Dispatch
TG 1206 T Tactical A-5 Fire Tac
TG 1207 T Tactical A-6 Fire Tac
TG 1208 T Tactical A-7 Fire Tac

There's also the Ops channels for every FD, they are in the 1361-1378 range. Here's what I've deciphered so far from listening to my SDS100:

TG 1361 FCFD Ops
TG 1365 Mineral Springs Ops
TG 1367 Walkertown Ops
TG 1371 Old Richmond Ops
TG 1377 possibly Midway-Gumtree Ops based on the 57xxxx UID

More listening is needed before I submit them.

I bought my BCD436HP from Ham Radio Outlet n', I bought my SDS100 from Scannermaster. I steer clear of Amazon on anything scanner-related and/or refurbished.

Hey folks, I'm down here in Wallburg and just programmed my G5 for the new system. For the time being just Fire and EMS. Its working just as advertised and sounds great - clear as a bell All of the city and county tac channels seem to be up and running. One of my neighbors is a WSFD member and he said the next thing that will happen is automated voice dispatching like Guilford coming within the next couple of weeks. All of the dispatching is still being simulcast on 154.205 and will remain that way for the time being. Just wanted to thank everyone who posted the talkgroup IDs.
