Understand the Sentinel package cannot be used to download RR for use with the SDS200. What alternatives exist?

Huh????
Where did you hear/read that Sentinel cannot be used with the SDS200??????

It most certainly CAN be used - just download the correct version.

And... Sentinel does not require you to subscribe to RR.
An alternative is ProScan (great program), but you have to be a subscriber to RR to access and download any info from the database.

Technically speaking, Sentinel does not download directly from RR, but rather Uniden pulls filtered data from RR on a weekly basis, which is then available in Sentinel. And yes, the correct version of Sentinel obviously works with the SDS200.

While the data available in Sentinel does not require a RR premium subscription, and is fairly easy to update/work with, there are limitations to it. For starters, it will not present any trunked systems that don't have talkgroups, so you won't be able to easily setup the scanner to monitor in ID Search mode for activity. Secondly, there are a few bugs/glitches with the weekly database pull, specifically that it is ignoring certain DMR Tier III systems (Capacity Max and TIII non-standard), which is a problem that needs to be fixed.

ProScan is a much more powerful option. Yes, it costs $50 for the license, and in order to maximize the benefits you will also need a RR premium subscription ($30 per year), but if you're serious about scanning and plan on making frequent changes/imports to your data, it's worth every penny. Oh yeah and it can download data from RR in real time, you don't have to wait a week for updated data to (hopefully) show up.

As of right now it appears that the Sentinel pull has failed for the past two weeks, stuck on March 10th.

BUTEL ARC is another software package that will allow for pulling the database down from RR but PROSCAN is the more popular choice. It’s my guess that is because it can be used on many different makes and model scanners, BUTEL offers software for most all scanners but they are mostly seperate purchases. I started before PROSCAN was offered but BUTEL was. As I replaced scanners I would get the software from BUTEL. And I just never stopped. I did purchase PROSCAN but you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. PROSCAN just takes up memory in my laptop abet for the occasional forums post that relates to PROSCAN in some way and gets me interested.

I concur with everything above....
However, I have a database version of 3/17/24

3/17 was either pulled or something else went screwy, and it reverted to 3/10 afterwards, where it's been stuck with no sign of Joe in over a month. Being discussed in another thread.

That is why I said "odd" before...
Just tried update, I get the "current version" message.
The bottom (screenprint above) still says 03/17/2024.
Why are some reverting - some not...?

Odd.....

Those who grabbed the 3/17 update on the 18th retain that version; others who didn't download it quickly enough are stuck with the 3/10 update. Nothing "reverted" in Sentinel, Uniden either pulled the 3/17 update from their servers soon after it was initially available on the 18th, or there's an issue with the server itself that automatically fell back to the 3/10 update. Regardless of the reasoning, this week's update was botched as well, and not a peep from Joe or anyone else at Uniden.

Likewise "Being discussed in another thread" leaves people wondering what thread that might be.
Kevin was being sarcastic. Anyway...
