I don't post here often and I did try searching for an answer to this question I have.

I was updating my database on the scanner and I thought I'd have a look at my scanlists. I noticed that I have about 165 items in that Unassigned Objects scanlist.

How did that happen exactly?

If you "remove" any conventional frequencies or talkgroups from any scanlist, this is where they are placed because you have unassigned them from a scanlist. If you "delete" any then they are permanently removed.

About 30 of the items in the Unassigned Objects were talkgroups from the state police. AFAIK, I've never deleted any objects from any scanlist, conventional or trunked, either on the scanner or via EZ-Scan,.

I moved the talkgroups back to the state police scanlist, that wasn't a problem. I just need to go back and figure out where the conventional frequencies came from.

Is it possible that when I performed a database update that those frequencies and talkgroups are depricated or no longer used?

So, I think you're confirming my suspicions that if I delete anything from the unassigned talkgroup that it deletes it from the database?

Technically, my scanner is a GRE-800, but I did the upgrade with Whistler, so it's basically a 1080, if that makes any difference.

"Technically" you now have a whistler ws1080 if you had the legacy upgrade done.

If you click the "Scanlist" tab, to the right you will see five options. One is "Remove Channel" and one is "Delete Channel" If, for example you are currently displaying "Scanlist 1" and have either a talkgroup or a conventional object highlighted, clicking "Remove Channel" will place that object into "Unassigned Ojects" so you can Reassign to a scanlist in the future. If you click "Delete Channel" that object is deleted permanently.

Although there may be other ways for objects to be placed into the "Unassigned Objects" list, The only way I know of from playing with the programming software is what I have personally experienced. It is impossible for me to find any documentation on the Unassigned Objects list online.

About the deprecated items I can only say that from my experience, if you don't delete them manually in EZ Scan, they remain in the scanlist they were in. EZ Scan documentation is horrible.

I am attaching a screenshot from my NJSP Scanlist.
