RE: Hardy County
Hardy and Hampshire Counties, I can tell you first hand both have separate centers that totally stand alone and handle their own calls and communications. As for the SIRN in Hardy County, all of the county companies, commission and individuals, including myself are wanting to utilize this system. The radio equipment (that I may remind you was purchased with grant money) has been laying in brand new unopened boxes stacked in the bathrooms at the 911 center for 3 years. The only person who seems to be against us using the SIRN is the OEM director himself !! Each time he is asked about this subject, there is a new excuse ! The newest excuse as reported by the Moorefield Examiner this week is... "With everyone able to talk with each other, the tower repeaters may get blocked," "We will probably need more space from the FCC" and because of the Radio Observatory at Green Bank has been after Hardy County to reduce its output on the current VHF system, so OEM isn't sure is the new system would be any different ! Its the same crap everyday, its really sad to see the counties around us (especially Hampshire and Mineral) progressing and wanting to update and embrace new technology, and here we set with all this brand new equipment that we cant touch !!
