RE: Hardy County

Hardy and Hampshire Counties, I can tell you first hand both have separate centers that totally stand alone and handle their own calls and communications. As for the SIRN in Hardy County, all of the county companies, commission and individuals, including myself are wanting to utilize this system. The radio equipment (that I may remind you was purchased with grant money) has been laying in brand new unopened boxes stacked in the bathrooms at the 911 center for 3 years. The only person who seems to be against us using the SIRN is the OEM director himself !! Each time he is asked about this subject, there is a new excuse ! The newest excuse as reported by the Moorefield Examiner this week is... "With everyone able to talk with each other, the tower repeaters may get blocked," "We will probably need more space from the FCC" and because of the Radio Observatory at Green Bank has been after Hardy County to reduce its output on the current VHF system, so OEM isn't sure is the new system would be any different ! Its the same crap everyday, its really sad to see the counties around us (especially Hampshire and Mineral) progressing and wanting to update and embrace new technology, and here we set with all this brand new equipment that we cant touch !!

Awesome. Keep in mind that until the license is actually granted [it's been in pending status for a month], you are almost guaranteed not to hear anything. Even afterwards it might take months or more before they actual build out. Hard to tell.

And if some emergency happens in your area where they decide to fire up a site temporarily, they'll probably not use frequencies from the pending license to do so -- they'd likely use 454 mhz paging frequencies. At least that is what they have been doing in a pinch in other areas when they have needed a site to be online in urgent fashion.

Bert I've been outside all day away from the radios. What kind of traffic did you hear on it? I think the school buses were supposed to have SIRN capable radios, and could maybe be them.

Bert glad you found out what it was. I knew they were getting new radios to contact us in case of an emg but wasn't sure they would get their own TG. That's pretty cool. I see it's already been submitted to the DB:)

Glad I could help out

Found new talkgroups for Hardy County.

1407 heard Moorefield and Hardy Deputies testing.
1933 Hardy Co Sheriff Deputy talking to Hardy Co Dispatch
I have submitted these.

1477 was also a hit but I didn't catch any conversation
