I have the new Radio Shack Pro-106 (same as the GRE PSR-500). Is there any mods I need to make to the Win500 settings when importing this system from Radio Reference? I remember reading something about settings using Win96 and Uniden scanners.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure what you mean by MOT. If you mean talkgroup, my computer says that T/G 00047 is the EMS radio techs.

Guess no one answered.

If you can hear a system control channel, set system Type to P25 Auto. If you can't hear a CC, it will still set the correct Trunking Tables when you roam into range. Or in this case, you can also preset the tables by setting Trunking Tables from Default to Custom then open the Trunking Tables button and set as follows:
Code:
#00 8192 12287 8192 453.0250 12.50
#01 12288 16383 12288 450.0000 6.25

So finding who's behind a talkgroup is hard sometimes? I've wondered how some of those id's that are listed(either conventional or trunked) be tagged. That talkgroup 9342 comes in loud and clear and I've been hoping someone says something to let me know the general area or what agency is using it. I like it when something new pops up in my Pro 2096 :p

It takes some time and a lot of people working together, that's what makes this site the best of its kind. For the WVIRP, a lot of the TGs follow a pattern...the one you listed is probably state related. Just keep monitor it and let us know. If you can, hold on that channel and record anything you hear on it. that way, you can go back and listen.

I caught 4915 as well. There is a 4935 listed as radio techs, so maybe that's what it is.

He's referring to a radio ID. If you're running Unitrunker or had a scanner the displays RIDs, you'll see that 151501, too (which apparently is the RID that's programmed into the radio that's bolted into Engine 1). [E.g., you can program the PSR-500 to display "Engine 1" whenever that radio is transmitting.]

I think 09342 is WV SP Troop 7 / Turnpike Dispatch and 04915 is Region 5 Tac-1. The Turnpike was using 09021 for a while. It looks like they're switching to TGs 0934x and RIDs 94100-94200 (although the console that's patching the VHF system onto the IRP right now is reporting RID 00000000).

What in the world would possess a county to encrypt fire traffic? I'll never quite understand this.

BTW, for those counting these sorts of things...

I now show 750 talkgroups that have either been keyed up or are almost certainly assigned, and I've recorded 2,327 different radio IDs, mostly on tower 0109/Garfield (Kanawha/Charleston) (so this doesn't take into account much at all from the two most active areas of the state [the HARR/MARI/MONO corridor, and the eastern panhandle]), with a total of about 3,800 likely assigned RIDs, if the patterns hold out. Yikes.

Now let's see.... (3,800 radios x $5,000/radio, installed) + (50 sites x $???,???/site) = .... a lot of fire trucks and cruisers!...

I'm sure they got a big discount for all of them :)
