The 9781 talkgroup is most likely a state agency, possibly related to DHSEM. The 1703 talkgroup is a county in Region 2, but I do not think anyone has identified the exact county yet.

If you enjoy your Pro 96, consider pro96com to extract the data from the control channels. You will get a good appreciation to the vast amount of information carried over the airwaves.

My guess is that you're hearing TG 06150 (ALS Dispatch) or TG 06152 (BLS Dispatch), if you're hearing them respond to transport calls.

If you're hearing them respond to emergency calls, it's not the county (yet). Probably TG 06214 (Charleston EMS Dispatch).

TG 09781 = WV-DMAPS/DHSEM/IFLOWS, I believe... [IFLOWS = Integrated Flood Observance and Warning System, the system of linked radio-reporting rain guages spread across the state.]

Using pro96com you will not hear any audio except for the control channel buzz.

Hey anyone know what type WVIRP is? is it Type 1 or Type 2(VHF or UHF) ?
These tower 116 txt files from your previous post
02,453.02500,0.01250,5.00000,"Confirmed",0.01250
03,450.00000,0.00625,10.00000,"Confirmed",0.01250
are neither Mot Type 1 or 2 but in fact, Project 25 (P25) UHF. Set these tables in the scanner or if your scanner will populate them automatically, set to P25 Auto and scan the systems active CC.

OldDeadOn, I don't think the 296 will allow P25 VHF/UHF programming but the 96 will using Win96 or the new ARC96.

Yea, Uniden. quickly replaced the 250/785 for P25 trunking but failed to find a solution for V/UHF trunking. :) The 296/796 can only use Motorola Channels 380, to 759. P25 systems cover channels 0 to 65535 at intervals of 4096. These are evident in your 2096 with the 9600 CC Extended Tables dialog.

Find any software for the 296/796 and you will not find any place for entering data in these bands except for Motorola channel 380 to 759. Step and Base will be similar, but Offset and Step is used to determine the correct VC in both Mot and P25.

The identifier tables in your tower 116 are multipliers of 4096, ie, the first identifier is 02 which is multiplied by 4096 = 8192. Its base is listed as 453.0250 and step of 12.5.
Identifier 03 offset adds 4096 to 8192 or multiplies it to 4096 for 12288. Note: this offset (and Ch Lo) is 1 number above the Ch Hi of the first Identifier (12287) for the 2096 This provides for a seamless go to channel for voice traffic as WV system is currently setup. In any case, these offsets are used by WV P25 system and cannot be set in the 296796 scanner.

Well I have emailed Uniden for help and I don't know if the rebanding update(with whatever else that might be included) that is supposed to happen will fix this for my 296 in January.

Just picked up radio service testing for Wetzel county (TG 2937). They were specific: It was Wetzel OES. The tech then asked what channel he was on, and he (Wetzel) replied, "WTZ 911" . So... there we have tg, who, and the actual radio display!!!

During Citizens Fire Department open house today the Chief announced they will be switching over to the WVIRP towards the end of this month. He also mentioned that once this switch has been completed that individuals with scanners will no longer be able to listening to police dispatching. Anyone have any idea what he may have been talking about? My guess is that he was referring to those individuals who do not own a digital scanner will no longer be able to receive transmissions on the new system.

My guesses are that given the price of the of the new digital scanners only a select few who can afford those scanners will be able to listen to the Jefferson transmissions or that they may be (heaven forbid) going to partial or full encription with their system.

That was my guess as well...it was just odd that the Fire Chief only mentioned the inability to receive the police transmissions. Thanks for the quick response! :)

Jefferson County Medic

Had Jefferson County medic x (sorry missed that due to the tv) with Martinsburg City Hospital/EPCOM with a "test of the new 400 mhz system" this evening. Was on Berkeley County TG 9983.
