Heard 2 techs today at about 11 AM on TG 9996 on the Rich Mountain tower. One was at the tower site, the other was, the way it sounded, on I-79 at the Goshen Road exit. They were discussing some problems they were having with the tower and how they might fix them. Also talking about the weather.

I noticed that Morgan County 2nd site is now on the air (control channel only) Wednesday. I found out when I heard the digital noise on analog scanners.

http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/license.jsp?licKey=3002762

In the RR database, the site is shown as being in Hampshire County. The transmitter for this site appears to be near where Morgan, Hampshire, & Frederick counties meet. However, according the license above, it is in fact assigned to Morgan County.

Control channel is 453.3375. System ID 0170h-0127.

The first site assigned to Morgan County is not on the air (yet?). I do have it programmed also, but so far, nothing heard.

I finally got my scanner connected to the computer to record audio all day when I'm not home. I managed to hear some ambiguous traffic here in Jefferson County on 8101 a few times. Anyone know what that might be? It didn't sound like radio techs, sounded more like casual conversation. I thought at first I was just getting that TG mixed up w/ Berkeley Co's 8021, but I double checked and it had indeed logged TG 8101.

from what I understand, all 8xxx TGs are federal agencies.

I caught a communication between Engine 4 and a radio tech the other day as well after reviewing my day's worth of recordings. He told the engine to switch the mobile radio to Fire Conventional and then put two portables on TALK-1. I never heard anything come over 153.8600, so I'm wondering if there's another conventional frequency being used. Perhaps, a UHF band frequency that's not part of the trunked radio group assigned to Jeff Co? Anyone have any ideas or catch the transmissions for Jefferson County Fire Conventional?

Heard two techs on tg 9771 working on the knox box for a Jefferson Co fire company today. Sounded like they got it fixed.

could it be that since they were on portables, which would be lower power than the mobiles and you just were not able to receive them? I think I'm right in saying they do not use a repeater for the VHF freqs. also, I know Loudoun Co VA has a conventional freq they use whole on scene this is analog and low powered; maybe they have something like that as too.

I'm kind of excited now, because I went back and listened to my recordings and found that unit 1900 told station 4 that the NOX box won't work inside the station bays because of the degraded reception on UHF band. He confirmed that there is a UHF conventional frequency. Now I'm on a search to find it. I'll betcha there are two and they're the 2 frequencies listed under the database for the Jefferson secondary site. I'm going to program them in and give them a listen. There is still more testing that has to be done, because I believe all the fire apparatus are getting them and a few stations have yet to have theirs installed yet.

What is a nox box? I thought it was the alarm system thing used when they were dispatched. The would be something mounted on a wall but it sounds like something that is portable.

Tg 1901

Was going over my recordings and this morning Berkeley Rescue Engine 62 was calling Jefferson on TG 1901. Jefferson did reply. That was about all I got. I wonder if they were asking for a channel assignment. Did anyone monitoring Jefferson this morning about 07:40 hear a Berkeley unit on the Jefferson site assisting with anything?

Mike, when I get a free minute, I'll have to pull my recordings...pulled a 13 hour shift at work on Sunday and must sleep...no time to listen now.

Mike,

Company 60 was dispatched into Shepherdstown about that time. I didn't catcht the engine, but I caught Chief 60 calling Jefferson on that same TG. He had to call twice before they answered him.

I managed to catch some County Gov't TG's going into service this morning. Apparently, if any unit on those TG's needs to contact "Jefferson" they'll do so via 1550 - County Gov't 1. There was a lot of testing on TG 1554 and Radio Maintenance said that the county gov't radios were going in service this morning on the WVIRP. Not sure what 1554 is, but I'd guess that since 1550 is Co.Gov't 1, then 1552 is 2 & 1554 is 3. There may be a fourth. Hopefully, more to come...

951
1549
1939
2951
6951
9960

903 is in the database twice. Is it radio techs?

Site 126

Does anyone know the location of site 126? Ridge (127) is reporting it as a neighbor.
