What is with the garbage signal every single time from this station? I get more copyable stuff from the other end of the planet. Trying to listen to Alex Jones' ranting or Glen Hauser's loggings gets annoying in short order. Is it their equipment or what? How are you guys getting them? (no, Frank-it's just YOUUUUUUUU!!!!):D

4.840 Mhz comes in fairly clear in the evenings (0200 UTC) in Wisconsin. The other times and freq's are hit and miss for me.

I've had the same problems with WWCR...perhaps they are broadcasting at too low a power? Up here in MA it's pretty hit or miss; I occasionally try to catch Alex Jones during the week but the fading in and out is just too much to handle sometimes. A lot of times I have to really try and focus on the sound and try to hear what he's saying through the static and fading; it's not much fun.

BTW, I'm running a Sangean ATS-909 with a longwire antenna (not sure of the length...20 ft. perhaps?).

I can barely get them during the day, but could be my antenna orientation.

3215 comes blasting in at night, but maybe not as strongly as it used to

ok so I am not alone in this- the only guy I know here who actually gets that signal well is xeno194-he's on the east coast. I think it's all about where WWCR is pointing the power and it aint this way. Alexander describes the signal quality best about that annoying fade.

Yeah, 4840khz is just like a local here. Perfect freq. for me.

You west coasters pick up Japan, China, Australia like they're in your back yard ... and now you want to hear Tennessee too?

C'mon! Guess you'll just have to get them long path!

Hi all - 'just happened to be listing to WWCR at around 2:50 UTC today.

Decided to pop on their site and take a look at who/what the heck this crazy program was :) And found this note:

WWCR is testing the frequency 3.255 mHz on Transmitter #1. From 2 October - 8 October, WWCR will broadcast on 3.255 mHz INSTEAD of 3.215 mHz from 0100-0900 UTC.

__________________________

At around 2:57 UTC show abruptly was cut off short and an OM annc. stated to move to 3.255 for continued broadcast.

Perhaps these "tests" will help your reception soon. Here in Upstate, NY they were blasting in SIO (555)

Oh yeah - and this is my first post - glad to be aboard 73's and hello's around. :)

Welcome to the forum and thanks for that info:) my antenna setup starts to run out of gas on AM down in that range but I will try it anyway just for fun.

You're not going to have much luck receiving WWCR in SFO.The broadcasts are beamed in the opposite direction. You might have good luck early in the AM before sun rise, but it has always been hit or miss here on the West Coast for WWCR.

Oh I get it real good carrier-wise but the voice part is horrendous. Alex's voice is not meant for radio either which doesn't help. Also according to the lists I have one of WWCRs transmitters is pointed to north America at those times so I figure it's just their equipment.

Agreed - Alex's voice really isn't fit for radio. With other hosts I can still sorta hear them and comprehend what they are saying when the signal fades but unless I have S5/S4 I find it really hard to understand his program.

At night here in South Carolina, about 300 air miles from Nashville.

3215 - always reliable
4840 - usually good but at times gets noisy
5890 & 5935 - poor most of the time, once in a while, it will boom in.

During the day, sometimes 9985 and the rest are just duds.
