Now thats really lame.

A person plugging software claimings its standard by the weather service yet he offers no proff from the weather service thats its used.

Sounds more like your the software developer trying to shamelessly plug software.

I'm not the software developer. I have no connection to him. His software is free, so even if I was connected, it would result in no gain, financially or otherwise, to me.

I suppose I could be lying. But then again, after 5000 posts, if I was a liar you think there'd be some basis to your theory.

As Bruce noted above, the NWS won't directly promote software that they didn't develop. So go to your local office, and they will not tell you to install it.

But if you ask to see it running, they'll likely pull up their copy of GR2AE and superimpose the SpotterNetwork reports on top.

You were warned and yet you continued. Enjoy your week's vacation from posting.

I have to side with rdale......I know him from the weather community and there's no shortage in the brains department there.

WSB-TV, Atlanta, GA, uses Gibson Ridge Level 2 Analyst Edition. I, too, am aware of NWS offices, including Peachtree City (FFC), that operate GR2AE independent of their equipment. I showed the WCM of JAX the GR2AE program and saw the lightbulb go off above his head.....

From a scientific perspective, the GR2AE's Mesocyclone Detection Algorithm (not to be confused with the post 9.0 build version that Stumpf et.al. at NSSL produced) is a significant tool for identifying major rotation, etc. Also, the recent version of Level 3 added the NWS/NSSL MDA algorithm. Very cool way to identify and quantify rotation...

rdale is constantly posting to this forum and to the GR Forum and I have learned a ton from him and his colleagues within the spotter community. Let's talk about something else, shall we?
