Xcel has started to transition to a new P25 trunked 800mHz system in the Metro. Sunday the Analog System CC was on 855.6625.

For what it is worth, I just heard chatter on talkgroup 16 (trouble west - electric) about 5 minutes ago.

No idea on a timeline on the switchover to the P25 System- I noticed the P25 in January/February and have yet to see much more than occasional testing, I do know the licensing changes were completed last summer. A few years ago I saw local crews still using MTS2000’s, So I am suspecting this is an entire fleet replacement.

Listened yesterday as they restored a power outage in my area- everything was on the analog side only - no digital yet.

I was checking my History Log a little bit ago and I saw that there had been encrypted radio traffic on this system. I was surprised, at first, but then I read this thread again and saw that encrypted traffic had already been logged here. I haven't listened enough, yet, to get a good feel for this. Are most Talkgroups in the clear or encrypted?

DId you happen to submit this? If so, thanks! If not, please consider submitting the info to the DB so that the new system can be created and added.

Thank you,

Mike

Thats too bad, I always enjoyed listening on my old BC895XLT. Pretty much the only thing I have programmed into that radio.
