• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

No indication of power? ignition sense, internal fuse? bad wiring? bad data cable?
Most I've seen will show an Error, or LOST MRU...
It's been 5 years since I played with this stuff. I have a service memo sheet that has prolly aready been shared around here. It might help you if terminal still works, and you get errors.

My first bricked XG-100 simply would not talk to the outside world. CH-721 head, it would send power on over the can bus and the brick responded, but no return data on the can bus. I JTAGed the mru and managed to get a recent burnapp and bootapp into the brick.
Still nothing on the RS232 and only one way on the can bus.
Conclusion was a hardware failure in the complex comm's switching to the OMAP. Means a new PK board.

I'm going to dredge up this single key confusion again with a clip from the current XLP 17C firmware PDF.

So, ARC4? RPM2. Single Key DES? RPM2. Single Key AES, Key Admin/Loader or KVL.

To my recollection, the 100M is not an OMAP radio… (Not picking on you, just trying to avoid confusion.)

Yep that'd correct. Never made sense to me that single key AES couldn't be done in RPM2. And you can't use single key DES and ARC4 together.

Ya, especially since I thought the whole point of single key AES was to lower the financial barrier to entry (as in, not having to purchase a $10k key loader suite, along with the feature costing nil). 🤷🏼‍♂️

Single Key-AES keys have always been required to be loaded by a the L3HARRIS keyloader or a KVL for security purposes. Reference to Single-Key-AES keys needing to be loaded by the L3HARRIS keyloader or a KVL goes back to XLP-R6G (December 2018) SRN and maybe even earlier. That's just the earliest mention that I found doing a quick search.
