• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi Everyone,

I have done quite a bit of work on the APX and XTL line of radios, but I have not dabbled in DMR. Let me preface this with that I am no expert and I'm currently in school for criminal justice and I find radios very interesting; Im learning, so I apologize for any incorrect terminology. :)

I purchased a MotoTRBO XPR7550e about 6 months ago to be able to listen to the campus safety where I go to school along with some surrounding agencies. I had programmed in two DMR frequencies and everything was great! I was able to receive them perfectly. The radio and all frequencies were in RX only mode for the exception of some GMRS frequencies.

Then I got ambitious and trued to add a few more. I programmed them the "same way" and then all of a sudden I was no longer receiving any audio from any DMR frequencies. Analog frequencies were working fine, that's what I'm familiar with.

I have some friends that do volunteer work and are employed with agencies from home. They have been helping me as I learn everything. They were willing to take a look at my cqodeplug and were unable to find anything wrong.

One suggestion was to change the radio ID as the system may have recognized it and blocked it.
I have also done some reading into RAS, but I am unclear if it applies to a radio that is only trying to receive, not transmit.

Any suggestions of what I could try next?

Thanks in advance!!

This sounds like RAS. If RAS is enabled, while not encryption, your radio won't play the audio without the correct RAS key. You can listen with a DMR enabled scanner, but the commercial radios won't let you listen to RAS enabled transmissions.

That’s what I figured.
Is there a way to determine if the system has RAS in the future?

I have an SDS100 and I plan on buying the DMR capability soon.

Thanks so much!
