Kenwood TK-5410. I can’t listen to only one talk group but it’s okay because it tells me what talk group someone is transmitting in, good enough for me.
Hey, so that radio is a bit complicated to program, here's some tips
In my experience, the radio will only receive properly IF you put the proper INPUT frequency in DMR, I don't know why this is the case, I just remember that being the case when I programmed that radio. You risk keying up the repeater if you hit the PTT though, so be careful.
If you hear a burst every few seconds on FM mode, that likely means its a CAP+ system, as what you're hearing is the RAS data bursts.
If you want to figure out the CC and TG, you must put in a slot, then put the radio into MONI mode, which should give you any CC/TG activity on that timeslot and frequency combination
Hope this helps, let me know if you have questions

The Kenwood TK-5410 is a 7/800MHz Analog/P25 radio. It won't do DMR.

So should I put 452.100 as Rx and 461.6875 as Tx? If so, would I put the other frequencies in the same way as channels on the radio?

If 452.1 is the receive frequency, the UHF transmit frequency would typically be +5 MHz, so in this case, 457.100. This is how you'd program all the channels. Repeater output = RX frequency, repeater input = TX frequency.

Okay I’ve tried this but have no luck. My FM radios definitely indicate an incoming transmission but even on monitor mode and with offset, it will not receive it. Also a question, will the rx light turn on when the cap+ system does the digital bursts? This would help me determine if I’m doing this the right way.

I have found that on DMR Cap+ systems using RAS, nothing will decode on my TYT, HD1, or AnyTone radios but it will decode on my Uniden 436.

so that radio isn't meant for trunking, so you're going to have to do some investigation. the DR1801 isn't trunk capable but you can work around it. When you hear those short bursts on your FM radio, those are RAS bursts of data, your radio doesn't know what those are. When you hear a long sequence of DMR traffic on the FM radio, you know there's voice data, if you hear nothing on that baofeng, switch timeslots and go to MONI mode again and it should be there. If you want more success, get an SDR, its much easier

Some notes from logging the system......

Hytera XPT trunking
All sites showing CC5

Plainfield East HS does not appear to be on the air yet.

462.0125 silent, no beacons

452.7000 has been converted into the trunking system.

461.4750 has been converted into the trunking system.

461.3875 security appears to remain stand-alone repeater. (no beacons)

All sites CC5, so Central, North, South. All schools?

I have found that the radio will show as receiving via the screen but the green LED won’t go on and I have tried using both slots during an incoming transmission and it doesn’t work. Even trying to use a tier 2 frequency from a hotel, it does the same. I am using correct color code and monitoring both slots using dual watch and turned on monitor mode. I also put in +5 offset. Please help I do not understand what I’m doing wrong here.

Plfd system uses a multitude of frequencies on their DMR-XTP system and i use a 996P2 scanner with the DMR upgrade...The color codes vary for each designated personal ....The talk Groups are many and if you're using anything other than an upgraded scanner i can't offer any info.,,,,

are you sure that there is an actual transmission while youre listening? you can use an SDR to confirm the TS and CC etc. Also you can't use dual watch and Monitor mode at the same time.

Yes. In Florida right now, trying to monitor a hotel DMR frequency so I do have the correct information from RR. Also using analog radio to confirm transmission. Not trying to get off track from Plainfield but it ties into the whole not being able to receive thing.

Do you think this might be a hardware issue because, baofeng? Thinking about a TYT MD380. Good choice?

yeah im not sure at this point, i would suggest a UV380/UV390
it worked for me if i put DIrect TDMA as off, the right CC, group call rx, the proper input freq, and it worked that way

I will try the direct TDMA set to off thing as soon as I can and will report what happens. If 8it doesn’t work then new radio it is.
