• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Saw a video on facebook of a guy showing the TPT of an XTL 2500 and an APX 7000. And I was wondering how he even got that on the XTL?

I'll check all of my various RSS and CPS applications and see how far back TPT is/was used. I believe TPT is only associated with PT-T ID MDC and/or DTMF Signalling and Trunking. Also, I will check and see if it was a box to check for non-PT-T MDC features and and Conventional systems.

How does that work? I thought that was only available on trunking or through the XTS FPP hack?
There's a way to make it work on XTL using DVRS. There's instructions online somewhere. For the APX, anything past firmware R31 allows a conventional P25 TPT on Motorola P25 repeaters.

What you are describing is on the XTS portable, not the mobile XTL. This is from the XTS help screen:

I thought you needed FPP enabled in the flash in order for the DVRS trick to work.

2. The DVRS Method: This method only applies if the user is going to be using a Quantar P25 conventional repeater. In this method, the radio is tricked into thinking the repeater is really a Digital Vehicular Repeater System (DVRS), which it's not. When the radio is operating on a DVRS, it can play talk permit tones to tell the radio user that the DVRS is ready to receive communications. This method doesn't work if you are using an analog repeater or on simplex.

Was thinking the OP wasnt using a Quantar P25 conventional repeater and was just doing conventional simplex / a non P25 repeater. In which case if he was - this TPT DVRS trick wouldn’t work -unless you had FPP in the codeplug

OP was just asking how its possible on an XTL. There's ways, that one is the one I used.

Regarding XTL tpt, what about a GTR8k instead of Quantar? Just wondering.

I am about to update a small fleet of APX4k w/ fw 37 to allow tpt on a gtr8k. It has been tested, but apx is not xtl.
