• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This one is a mystery to me, but my brother has a Motorola XTS 2500 (used) that does a "pulsed clicking" noise on analog channels, and we have no idea on the cause! It happens in vehicle, out of vehicle, different vehicles. Used in or FD. It's only on analog that it does this, P25 Conventional is fine. And I/we would see if anyone would have any ideas/causes/fixes, or if it's a hardware issue, and/or due to age (We believe it's an older gen 2500) It IS also using an aftermarket battery, but from a brand we've used in the past with/on 2500's before, but we know you can sometimes get a "bad" battery!

Thanks in advance!

You probably have priority channel scan set up in one or more modes. Based on the recording I would hazard a guess that the repeater input is set up in the non priority scan list and the repeater output is in priority scan list

The recording is from a live feed hosted by a feed of mine. Feed is stereo but the channel the audio is recorded on is the Dispatch channel which the feed mobile is "parked on". I just chose the feed audio because it captured it. It can be heard on pages, scanners, etc.

I (think) this also occurs when the scan is turned off on the 2500, but will check/test next time it's used.

I believe, but not 100% sure it's set up that the 1st Priority is User Selectable (whatever channel you're on) and the the 2nd I think may be the Dispatch Channel or Safety Channel (Repeater Output) but again, not 100% sure. A friend of mine does the programming.

That would be the thing to test.

as RFI said above, this is almost always the priority scan and the clicking is the 'lookback' when it checks the priority channel. I've got L3Harris, Kenwood, Icom and Motorola radios that all do the same thing.
