Don't own a 536.... However I am glad so see some movement on analyze features for the 536 peeps.

The 436 has been shelved and using the 396XT for now, which is by far my favorite Uniden scanner of all time!!

New FW for BCD436HP is now available!

Just did the FW update for the BCD436HP to ver 1.05.01 through Sentinel that includes the clock fix that was changed with the BCD536 a few weeks ago and includes the Analyze function and so far so good.

Don't know when it was posted as it didn't update FW on Monday, and haven't see an announcement about it yet.

FYI,
Bob

Sadly my 13 month old 536 now has the clock reset issue. Unlike my 436, which sort of slowly got worse, the 536 just stopped retaining the time for more than about a minute several days ago.

The FW workaround keeps the aggravation level to a minimum, but still...

Retrofit a BCD536HP with a RTC that keeps time, piggy-backing the orginal Real Time Clock
http://forums.radioreference.com/un.../315640-retrofit-bcd536hp-rtc-keeps-time.html

Except an important note to those who may be planning on doing their own repair--- somewhere in these forums, I'm pretty sure the Uniden rep Paul Opitz said that Uniden would cover that repair even after the original warranty expires. If that is true, then doing your own "tinkering" may void any possible extended warranty that may be offered for the unit in the coming months. And that might apply to not only the clock function, but to anything else that might go wrong with the unit, like the "dimming displays". Although Uniden has yet to acknowledge that particular issue, the number of reports of same are growing and they may be forced to address it at some point. So before anyone breaks open their units and puts their furry little paws in there, you might want to consider the ramifications of doing so in light of any upcoming extended warranty announcements.

Really Joe?!? You showed no understanding of the frustration people with this issue are having. To top it off there is no credible indication that a resolution is on the way. Its been over a year and a half. I think that is a reasonable time frame to look at an issue and get a fix. Unfortunately there are other issues as well, and again, no credible indication those will be resolved or delivered any time soon. This is your response? That was a low blow. It only adds more frustration to an already aggravating situation. I would certainly hope Uniden's view of their customers problems is a bit more understanding than that response. I understand you may not agree with their point, but that was uncalled for.

The only issues that have not been acknowledged are ones that are maybe 6 months old (specifically the display dimming issue). I understand that people want a fix now, not necessarily a lasting fix - just a fix. Personally, I would rather have a fix that is permanent and done correctly. Wouldn't you?

We live on an era when too much of everything is more "I want it now" whether it's right or not. I firmly believe that is what happened to the Analysis package. You have a group who was tired of waiting and was ready to sue over the missing feature, so they got it quick rather than right. Who won? Nobody.

As the saying goes: Quick Correct Cheap... PICK TWO.

As for my reply, look at what I replied to - someone advocating a quick fix which may void any warranty Uniden might offer for those who are willing to wait for the correct fix. Are you really condoning people doing this to their scanners?

It took Uniden approx 1 year to;
Design
Develop
Build
Make firmware &
Distribute the x36HP

But they can't figure out in 6 months why LEDs are dimming or failing in the product THEY invented? Come one......

It's way past people wanting a "quick fix" when 1/3 of the x36HP lifetime has had a dimming display issue for many users. 6 months waiting is not people being impatience and wanting a "quick fix". A quick fix would be people wanting it fixed in weeks after the problem was discovered, not a half a year!!!

Maybe they don't have a source for replacement LEDs that will last. I doubt they manufactured the LEDs - most likely they purchased from an LED manufacturer.

I think it's been established that the LEDs themselves are not lasting, as replacements return to full brightness. That eliminates all causes other than the actual LEDs.

BTW, my Maha charger has the EXACT same issue. (Maha has no ties to Uniden AFAIK)
