So, I am getting ready to build a cable and plug as I have several parts and pieces laying around. I am looking at disconnecting my center speaker in my dashboard from the AM/FM radio, and going to hook onto it a wire to 3.5mm plug to go into my Yaesu FTM-300. Now I have read in the manual that hooking a plug into just Speaker A will give me both A & B feeds. I assume this is using a 3.5mm Stereo plug? Now will both still feed if I use a Mono plug? or should I just wire in the stereo plug into the single speaker? Other option was buy a $25 kit that is already made, but why, when I have all the parts already.

On the FTM-300, you can use a mono plug. They stopped that stupid tip and ring wiring that was needed on the FTM-350, 100 and 400. Just be careful to not use an older style one that's slightly over sized. I plugged it in one time and the speaker jack broke and now, no internal speaker. I've used multiple newer ones and it's fine. At least I can still plug in an external speaker and use the radio which may end up in the car so an external would be needed anyway.
