i got this radio 2 years ago new in the box.
its got 1 problem.no matter where you set power and mic everybody says it sounds like im screaming at them. i tried diffrent mics a genuine yaesu and 2 chinesium . the chineseiums were better than oem but still has that screaming output. its dead on frequency .dont matter if on repeater or simplex.
and it also must not have much for filters as it intermods bad. for instance if im on 146.475 and somebody is on 146.460 and weak it drags them in on 146.475.
this george foreman grill has rode its way back to yaesu for a 2 month siesta to hear radio is fine.
hope i can get simple answers and suggestions not complicate matters thank you

its in my post, tried the mic

mic and mic gain are two different things, mic is hardware, so you tried looks like three different mikes. Mike gain is a setting in the software of the radio. Not familiar with that radio mode but most newish models have a software/code adjustment to louden or soften the sound picked up by the mic. This sounds like what your problem may be.

Does it have receive audio? If so I'd start checking mic connections and if possible try another mic.

Are you running it on high power? It's listed as an 80 watt radio. It might be louder than the people listening are used to. Tell them to turn down their volume.

RF power has nothing to do with a hot mic.

Going forward I think Yaesu radios have the mic gain is set too high when purchasing a new radio. I have had a few Yaesu radios over the years and all had to have the mic gain lowered.

I am loud talker and on all my radios had to lower the mic gain.

Get a friend to help you get the radio's mic gain set correctly. Use a simplex frequency and have them listen to you transmitting on it. Adjust the mic lower and they can tell when you mic gain is set at good level for how you speak

I've seen a lot of situations where the power output has made a difference in how loud someone's signal is at the receiving end.

on mine no matter the power setting it was screaming. i put thin foam rubber over the mic pickup . must been the cure cause never heard any more its screaming when you talk. but compare price to power cant be real greatparts in them at that price
