I had this problem before but for some reason I can't recall how to "fix it". I have ZERO audio coming out of the FT1D, not even when I press the "mon" button. I used CHIRP to program the radio because the RT-Systems software doesn't want to see the SCU-19 cable.

I do have APRS running on 9600kbps, but that shouldn't be an issue as that is on the B Band and I'm trying to operate on the A Band.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Regards,

Have you check out Yaesu website? They have their own software that you can download. It works well.

Have you checked your volume levels? The FT1D has notoriously low audio even when everything is working properly. I have to routinely run mine up to 25 or higher to hear anything out of the internal speaker.

If you already have the RT Systems software, you can use it to write programming to a MicroSD card in your computer, then insert it into the radio and read from it. That's how I program mine.

I was told that for APRS to operate properly, the radio has to be set to 1200 baud, not 9600.

The original version of the ADMS-6 programming software from Yaesu was junk. One of the members of my club had problems with it and when he called Yaesu, the tech told him not to bother; that it was something they cobbled together in a hurry. There may be an updated version, but I don't trust it.

My guess is that you muted it via the APRS mute, but check the following after you check the volume level as previously noted.

1. Page 33 "Muting Audio"
or
2. Page 84 "APRS MUTE"

That radio is dEEp with menus. I sold mine because of the slow to acquire GPS signals. It was/is ridiculously slow, where my Kenwood D72A will get a fix much faster comparatively. Yaesu's release of the FT-1DX with a new GPS works to address that brutally obvious flaw in the FT-1DR hardware. The battery bump with the new FT-1DX was also needed. If the FT-1DX provided for the use of the TNC like the Kenwood, it would be a great radio.

I never used the cable myself. I used the RT systems software and programmed a memory card.
