You most likely going to have issues pulling in signals from the other sides of the mountains. Anything transmitting from on top of the mountains (the two you are in between) should come in good.
Yeah i am able to pull in 4 counties over thats the farthest i can get so i figured if i could receive that i should be able to receive WV mcdowell county which is 20 mins drive from me at most.

Why does this do this here, whenever the scanner stops on a conventional freqs it always has open squelch for a few seconds at the end, i have played with the squelch i have it set just above the noise floor . Video

So 4 countries over is good but be aware some counties are can situated to basically keep their signal within the county meaning transmitter’s can be positioned to provide coverage into certain areas.

Yea i'm debating on weather i should try a yagi antenna and point it to see if i can pick up those places better. problem is this hobby can turn into a money pit rather quickly
