Yupiteru 7100 issue

Hi! My first post and I already need your help.

I have a Yupiteru MVT-7100 and it works great MOST of the time. After a random amount of time, it will start chirping with a chh, chh, chh, chh, chh, chh with about a 0.5 second interval. It doesn't matter what my squelch level is. I can turn the radio off and it will be fine again for another random amount of time, but eventually it does this and my only option is to turn it off. I thought it was only when plugged in, but that isn't the case; it does it regardless of the power source. Any ideas on what's going on with this thing? My AOR8200 on the same frequency does not do this so I don't believe it's coming from the frequency source...but I'm not an expert, either. Any help is appreciated.

I turned on the radio and from the time I posted my original post to right now, I captured the sound. Seems faster than 0.5 second intervals. I'm thinking 0.25 or faster.

Is the memory backup working on your receiver ?

Welcome to the forums: Could be an external interference source. Do you always use the radio in the same location? Does it happen if you step outside to rule out potential sources of RF indoors? Does this exist with only one frequency or more than one? What particular band(s)?

I'd suggest, in the following order:
1. Try the hard reset button on the side (the little pinhole under the key lock slider). Note it will reset to factory default, you will lose all the memory settings.
2. Try replacing the internal batteries with known good ones. Check the batteries are sat tight in the compartment and that the metal connections are good/sprung to make a good contact with each battery. Run without an external power supply.
3. Replace the memory backup capacitor (although the strongest indicator of this issue is losing the memory settings/CLEAR displayed on power on)

4. Could be a cold solder joint/loose connection which will need inspection of the internals
